  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

scarlet future firmware wishlist

5K at a wider aspect would be perfect (and extrapolating the Epic's frame rates suggests it's possible), but I'd take 4K or even 3K if it just used the full width of the sensor and downsampled. It would be soooo good to be that much nearer to full frame.

Power management / sleep mode needs to be bold & all caps with red text. I am astonished at how low that is on the priority list. I can't use, and won't buy, the camera until it's in place. Hard to believe I'm alone.

I'd also like to see single frame advance (stills mode) on the list.

Since this is a wish list, my dream mode : A "real" stills-only mode that only boots up certain parts of the hardware and as a result boots much faster and has better batter life.

According to Jarred it is pretty high on RED's list of features to implement.

Power Management has been moved way up the list after you guys all the feedback during NAB

Yes the feature is there in Scarlet too with the V 3.3.3. Beta build.

Native capability of the Brain, no need for PRO I/O to enable that feature.

If you do have PRO I/O, then you have additional outputs on top of that.

I'd need this tomorrow. I'm on last beta build and no, I have to choose. Do I need to go back?
btw, since this thread is all about wishlist:
25p (hdr) and 50p @ 3k

I know this has been mentioned but some kind of Interval timing for stills would be awesome. For example 1 frame every 5 seconds or something like that. I'd say power management is up there as well.

Something I'm wanting even more and more lately is different aspect ratios. Maybe even higher frame rates at different resolutions with wide screen. maybe 4K WS and 48? maybe 5K WS 24-30?

I would LOVE to see 4.5K WS 24fps like Red One. That would make me a very happy camper. Then again so would 5K at 24fps 12:1 ;)

Actually, I just would like something (seemingly) simple. And I'm sure it's been covered before.

I've had a few shoots lately that required a more documentary approach. For example, where I had react fast to get farm laborers during harvest.

My problem started when I would use the magnify option to check my focus. If the shot was something that I wanted and it was happening that moment, I would instinctively hit record. The end result would be a 3-4 second delay before the camera actually started to record. So of course after the 3rd or 4th time of doing that I went back to the "proper way" of un-magnifying (is that a word?) and hitting record. Which of course worked like a charm but added that extra step.

I know it's not much of a delay hitting the magnifying button twice but it would be great for documentary work if we could skip that step.

3k at 50fps and 3k 25fps HDRX has to be the biggest priority, surely. Living in PAL Land it's pretty much stopping me from getting work not being about to shoot in the main off-speed fps or to make use of hdrx at all above 2k.

After that I guess it's power management and then proper intervalometer functions with long exposures.

Can we have an option when shooting 2:39:1 to completely black out the cropped parts?

switchable to 50Mhz and 60Mhz .that is my wish list.
