If the Scarlet inherited the first EpicX ASICS and it was recently mention by Jarred
that new ASICS for EpicX Dragon had to be spun then maybe lightning will strike again?

Thoughts...

I have to imagine that a certain number of the new ASIC's for Epic Dragon will *fail* the speed testing and could be throttled for use in a restricted Scarlet Dragon scenario…

But I also wonder if - many of the Scarlets currently coming off the line are artificially throttled to fill demand? What percentage of ASIC chips fail to meet specs??

If the first "failed" ASICS for Epic-MX became a gold mine for Scarlet then will
the first "failed" ASICS for Epic-Dragon be the Diamond Mine for Scarlet?

It definitely stands to reason...especially since Jarred concretely confirmed a Scarlet
to Dragon sensor upgrade.

We shall see...

There's still no saying how they will implement the Dragon into the Scarlet. My thought would be since productions costs are coming down Epic-D will use a new ASIC, and the Scarlet upgrade would use the old EPIC ASICS (Full Version) for Dragon, and RED would just have to limit it's capabilities in order to keep EPIC competitive. I don't think any new EPIC owners will be using the Mysterium sensor much longer anyway, so where will those full version old EPIC ASICS go?

The most reasonable answer is: Into my Scarlet for $1,000. Unlock those higher frame rates, hide them in that inconspicuous gray body. What do you say Red Team?

Really hoping that the F5 is announced at $20-25k fully kitted out. If so, I'm hoping for two Scarlet paths:

1) Scarlet to Epic X: Swap boards for $5K
2) Scarlet to Epic D: Execute Scarlet (excluding recent BT Scarlet sale) + $30K

The new line up will feature Scarlet X, Epic X, and Epic D (end of life for Epic M and Red 1) leaving the door open to upgrade Scarlet to Epic X or Epic X to Epic D. Executed Scarlets cannot be upgraded. After the initial push, new prices will be:

Epic D: $35K
Epic X: $25K
Scarlet X: $7K

I think they are going to offer a cheap upgrade path from scarlet to epic x and then end the scarlet program.

That is what I was thinking and hoping... Sure would be nice for me and a whole bunch of others. Plus I think it would make sense on R&D. But what do I know.

Why exclude BT Scarlets? Hardly a "deal of a lifetime" if the BT Scarlets are treated any differently than a regular Scarlet. They were a deal because they are essentially second hand - regardless of how little time they were used and under constant supervision.

My BT Scarlet arrived today with 0.3 hours on the meter - My New Scarlet arrived last December with 11 hours on the meter...

I'm thinking my first prediction was half right, Jim said he predicted everyone will own an Epic. I think other users are right, the Scarlet program will end. Current Scarlet owners will be able to upgrade to Epic.

Interesting.
But now with the intensive QC, maybe mine will come in with 1 hour on meter :)
