Picked up our new Scarlet-Dragon yesterday morning in Hong Kong. First surprise: She got shipped with Nikon mount and Side SSD in that nice branded metal case instead of the "technical drawing"cardboard box. 2. RED included a little RED sticker...
My wife wanted to call Scarlet Dragon #04866 "Toothless" we decided to name her "Night Fury". How much "fury" she will spread at "night" will be tested back home.
This little "test" has been shot at night in our hotel room. The desk lamp is illuminating only and I used 50mm Sigma Art/f1.4 (Nikon mount) Scarlet Dragon 5k, 8:1 compression. I am here with my 11" MBA so I did not play around with the footage. This is how it came out of the camera. Look at the drops on the bottle or the M&M colours behind the sign... I am so impressed
I opted to buy another Scarlet Dragon rather than upgrade our MX-Scarlet to Epic, because the images we saw here from the Dragon sensor blew me away. I can still not stop smiling. I did not do all the compression testing yet, but I am confident, that at 5k 24fps and 8:1 the Scarlet can compete with the Epic-MX even if the Epic-MX is capable of lower compression rates. Guys, don't crucify me for this. When I grow up I still want an Epic Dragon because of all the goodness it can provide better than the Scarlet, but for now, for myself I am sure I made the right choice with the Scarlet Dragon.
Cant wait to get her up in the air or out in nature!!!
