  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SCARLET DRAGON -> EPIC DRAGON?!

Question: If we owned a Scarlet Dragon before the $5k credit cut off date for Weapon, but we go to Epic Dragon first, do we still get our $5k accessories credit when/if we upgrade to Weapon since we owned a Dragon before NAB?

+1 second that

Even people who buy a dragon at a later date get an accessory credit, so I'm certain upgraders will too. I do hope we can keep the pre-NAB trade in value for our dragons since I didn't have the option to go to Epic dragon before NAB, and ultimately if I go to weapon that will be a cheaper option.

It's looking good for us pre-NAB Scarlet Dragon owners who upgrade to Epic-X Dragon:

Brent, how about Scarlet Dragon owners (pre-NAB) who take the recently announced, temporary upgrade path Epic-X Dragon?

Would we fall into the pre-NAB Epic-X Dragon to Weapon trade-in credit of $15,500 (+ $5,000 accessory credit) or the post-NAB trade-in credit of $13,000 (+ $5,000 accessory credit)?
If you had any DRAGON before, you get pre-NAB trade-in value.

Instead of a $5,000 trade-in credit for a pre-NAB Scarlet Dragon. We invest $9,500 in an Epic Dragon upgrade and get a $15,500 trade-in credit. That's an extra $1,000.

Corret me if i'm wrong, but I'm under the impression the brain credit for VV is $13K for SD owner prior to NAB who upgrade to ED after NAB. $15.5K is for folks who already owned a ED before NAB

You still get the $5K credit for being a dragon pwner before NAB to buy stuff after paying off the remaining balance (unless that $5K can be added to the $13K)

Plus all the free stuff in the upgrade thats worth about another $5K

Brent is saying that owning ANY Dragon pre-NAB will get you pre-NAB trade-in value. So since we were Dragon (Scarlet) owners pre-NAB, if we upgrade to Epic-X Dragon and then trade that in for a Weapon model, we would get pre-NAB trade-in value on that Epic-X Dragon.
At least that's how I interpreted it, based on how specific I was and his response.

Great, thanks! Good bonus for Scarlet Dragon owners (pre-NAB), who upgrade to Epic-X Dragon post-NAB.
Akin A, that is why Jarred kept saying having a DRAGON pre-NAB was your ticket to ride : )

Not complaining about any of the options on offer but .....to get an extra $1,000 you spend $9.5k to ED.....right?

Sounds cheaper & easier to skip the foreplay and go straight to Weapon....or am I missing something.

Depends on your situation Mike.

On the downside, if you're not in the U.S., a lot (at least half) of that $1000 saving going to Weapon from Scarlet Dragon via Epic Dragon could get eaten up by extra transport and importing costs and bank/currency conversion fees. On top of that, there's the added time you'd have being without the camera while it gets upgraded twice, and the extra logistical/organizational effort required (paperwork and packaging etc.).

On the upside, there could still be a couple or few hundred dollars savings overall, and you'd have an Epic Dragon instead of a Scarlet Dragon to use while you wait to upgrade to Weapon. Splitting the total overall upgrade payments to get to Weapon by going to Epic first could have its advantages too ($9500 to Epic-D, then $5000 Weapon deposit, then $14000 Weapon Mg upgrade, as opposed to $5000 weapon deposit, then $24500 Weapon Mg upgrade). Epic-D to Weapon upgrades also get notified before Scarlet-D to Weapon upgrades, so it'd probably be a quicker way to get there.

Having said all that, I think being able to upgrade from Scarlet-D to Epic-D at the 'old' upgrade price could also appeal just as much to those who have no intention of going immediately to Weapon anyway (being happy enough with the Epic Dragon or being willing to wait and see what's next before moving to the new form factor).

Just got my Epic Dragon after doing the Scarlet Dragon to Epic Dragon upgrade.
FYI, for those budgeting, the new Epic Dragon Brain comes with the STH OLPF and you have to buy the LLO OLPF separately if you want it, even if you sent in a LLO Scarlet Dragon.
