  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Srry to post this in the wrong place but i dont know where to quickly find the info. - by placing my deposit for the package deal, am i sealing my place in line for the camera? secondly, by doing this am i telling red that when the camera is ready to ship i will have the remaining funds ready?

For instance if i didnt have the funds by the time the camera was ready to ship to me what would happen?
 
Wow, HUGE FREKIN SURPRISE!!!! I was keen to get 8x, but ALOT more hungry for an Epic - S which is what I think I bought??? or close to it. Order went through close to a half an hour ago. Seriously excited...

I have a feeling Epic-S, and any other version of Scarlet, is no more.
 
Hopefully I'm going to get a yes. Will my existing Canon aps-c lenses work with the Scarlet X?

Some more frame rate options -- like 120fps at 2K. More ports built in, no add-on modules to get XLR plugs. It's an established camera with mature features and lots of accessories available from third parties. Still a great camera to choose! Uses the same sensor as the EPIC and SCARLET, does not shoot 5K, but can do 4.5K at 2.5:1 wide. Does not have HDRx. Horses for courses... Still love the RED One.

EPIC and SCARLET are fully upgradeable to the new sensor. They are modular so you have the ability to use a variety of lens mounts, side handle, etc.. The RED One is very restricted as to lens mount options.
 
I really feel bad for anybody looking to move a RED One right now. I mean, jeez. I would say that the value of a used Red One M probably dropped to ~$5k, MX maybe to ~$7K? And given that Scarlet can be upgraded to Dragon while One can't...

i really doubt it dropped that much, but if you know anyone selling it that cheap please let me know? i'd jump on either of em!!!
 
Nice. Props to Red for kicking Canon's ass.

How will the rolling shutter compare to the Red One or Epic?

Also, it may have been asked already but is there any possibility (now or in the future) of recording 120p at 2K with a reduced REDCODE rate? That's really the only thing I miss from the fixed specs...
 
Red One does:
- 120fps @2K
- 60fps @ 3k
- built in XLR inputs (4 channels)
- 3 HD-SDI outputs
- 4.5k mode

probably forgetting other things.

But Scarlet is going to be a killer camera.
 
phew i can finally relax...that was intense.

I swear I had dreams about this camera.

I just want to thank you RED TEAM for this giant leap forward in storytelling...movie making. You didn't let us down and we won't let you down with our stories. We finally have no excuses, the footage that will be recorder from your cameras will continue to change the world. You have given us the opportunity to freely express ourselves in the new digital era, you seriously opened a voyage of uncharted expression, I think we are all ready.

As a guy who bought a $25,000 Red One in Aug 2011, the Scarlet-X makes me feel proud to be a Red owner but at the same time a massive "see you next tuesday" for not waiting a few months. Oh well, I best get cracking on finishing my film then I'll be back for a Scarlet. Well done the Red Team! and at the same time F**K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
