  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet and Europe ... lack of infos

Meddy, do you know what should be the final price? I understand it's 9580£ before vat. so it's around 13400€, am i right?

Yes ... this is what I understand too... but pretty hard to get a precise info.

I'm pretty sure that you will have to add VAT and Shipping to the cost in your invoice...

I'm not hiding guys - As Brent has already said, we are all pretty slammed since the Scarlet order book opened a couple of weeks back;
I would love to be able to answer all of your calls personally, especially yours Meddy, but that's simply not possible. 'Usual' RED business was pretty well busy before the Scarlet launch and continues to be so.
We are looking after all those existing customers and bringing in all the new ones as best as we are able to.
Many of the questions we are asked have answers already at RED.com - just wander around the FAQs there.
If you are an EU based customer and want to know what the final UK prices are before we get back to you with pro-formas, just take a look at your order on account - UK prices are shown there.

EPIC-X cameras are shipping at a phenomenal rate and Scarlet will catch up soon enough.

Hang in there.....

Alan.

Totally hanging- take your time :)
(ps. The final amount on the order on our account is not inclusive of VAT is it :) )

I'm glad to see that RED Europe business is busy. ^^

I hope someday to contact you for business.

From a couple of emails (the time stamp) Alan has answered recently I can see those guys are works all hours of 'every' day of the week... They are a top team and always deliver the best customer service... (unlike the rest of the Uk;-)

Thank you Alan for this Nice feedback and thank you for all anyway
Can't wait to see those Scarlet shipping to Europe too

I hope VAT is already included in the £ price they have put on all european orders, otherwise they use one strange method of converting dollars into pounds.

Scarlet X Al Canon package = $ 14015 in british sterling on the 3ed of November when I ordered was around £ 8740 (the exchange rate was at 1.60338 on the 3rd of November), however on my order I'm being charged more than £900 more = £ 9645

£8740 would become £10488 with UK's 20% VAT, so I'm pretty certain the price shown on the order page only includes freight and import duty to the UK. VAT and shipping in EU will likely be added to that price.

Yup, freight and import duty included in the cost you see on the order...
with VAT@20 you're looking at around £11,495 (give or take) for the scarlet package

Maybe if one of the very very very busy Red team members could give a yay or nay to this (perhaps if Alan is lurking around during a brew break).
It occured to me..
The total package I ordered is £9580 (minus VAT)... But this is including the estimated import duty and delivery.
Isn't it a mistake to work out the VAT based on £9580? Because I don't think that you pay VAT on import duty and delivery.
As such, you'd be paying 20% on the (around about) £8740 value of the product being brought in?

Does this seem right to people?

(just trying to get a correct ball-park figure of the 'in my hands' cost of what i've ordered)

VAT is being calculated on the total sum of product price, shipping and import duty, not just on the product itself.
What I don't know is if additional shipping costs from UK to another country INSIDE EU will be taken into consideration when calculating VAT for that country? I would guess so though.

Ok thanks for clearing that up, now then I should probably look into vat registering my company haha

Depending on where you live it shouldn't take long to do this. In Germany it's a matter of days and you can do it online. But inform yourself as some things may change regarding your tax computation and there probably are some requirements from your finance office to be able to do so.
