  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet and Epic BUILD 4 BETA

The 'Tools' checkbox on the Monitor Tab of the Monitor Control Dialog is what determines if the various false color modes appear on a particular monitor. Please check the setting for the monitor you are using.

Yea, I just realized it got turned off. That's working great now. But the RAW and COLOR still has the issue ever now and then, its not a constant thing that happens. Thank you for the quick response on the subject.

To those that are concerned that the fans are still spinning when the camera is in sleep mode: fans don't use much power.

Can anyone impart some knowledge on my question about noise removal? Does the noise removal have any application with normal 24fps footage, or does it only really come in to effect when doing time lapse?

So many new features, and i love the new GUI :) I think it´s now a bit easier and faster to navigate arround in the menus.

I found one little bug i think. When i´, in Timelapse mode and experiment with long exposures like 4frames/Pulse every 4 sec and Frame Summing with 4 frames to process, recording and palyback is as expected, but when i go back from playback to life, the image spilts in 5 columns equaly spread across the screen with some funny colors showing up in it like a solarization effect.
To get rid of it i have to restart, does happen only in Timer, Sum Mode shown in screen every 3rd or 4th time i change back from playback mode.

i ran just out of battery and my charger is in the office, but i can send you a logfile after chrsitmas.

Thanks for that nice present and a happy christmas to everyone at red and here at reducer

Noise Reduction is separate from Time Lapse. Noise Reduction is similar to Long Exposure where you specify the number of frames to group together into a final frame. For Long Exposure you add the frames together and for Noise Reduction you average them together.

You CAN chose a framerate and divider such that the resultant frame rate is 24FPS but since we are averaging frames together the motion artifacts won't lend itself to every application.

'It depends' :-)

Does what you're shooting call for a ramp? Or some other 4.x feature?

How tight is the schedule?

Do you have a spare body?

Can you tolerate the time-out to force a downgrade, blackshade etc. if it all goes pear-shaped?

If I *needed* something in the build, *and* could tolerate failure, yes, I'd use it for just those shots. But it's a beta; can always bite your bum in unexpected ways. And I'd damn well get DIT to review each shot with a fine tooth comb before we wrapped.

Mike

Thanks, Mike. Curiously, how long does it take to "force a downgrade, blackshade etc. if it all goes pear-shaped"? Is the process difficult? I've never been a tech guy, change tends to scare me into not taking advantage of these kinds of upgrades... I'd like to give this one a go though if the interface is really that much better (and I like the reverse monitor feature particularly)

So no image flip (horizontal) till the next build? Or will this be added sooner?

Are there supposed to be any improvement for REDVolt power management in this build? My quick tests say no. Will there ever be a way to power the camera off completely so it doesn't drain the REDVolts when not in use (when left in the side handle or quad module)?

Also, once I installed the firmware, my LCD screen froze several times on boot up (half black screen/half bright white) and I had to kill the power - this happened twice, and it booted on the third go - now everything is fine. Very odd...I'm not trusting this build yet.

Thank you so much guys!

You care for us.

Wish you the best !!!

Sincerely

Antoine

Check my post #187 in this thread too.

You can't get 30 seconds (the max is 16.15 seconds).

Trent,

Thanks for your comments .

Is this a current firmware limitation or is this a hardware limitation? Just looking at whether your trying to squeeze more juice from the lemon?!?!?!?

:))
