Hello everybody!
I know there are quite a few threads about scarlet and anamorphic shooting already but I find them
rather confusing and it's hard to find a proper workflow guide.

This is what we are doing:
Shooting scarlet with Kowa 2x anamorphic lenses using TV-Logic 7" Monitors for framing.

This is what I would like to know:
Can someone quickly round up how to process the clips in Red Cine-X
to get properly desqueezed and cropped (to 2.39:1) clips. The delivery format will be 2k dci scope (2048x858) and I want to give
proxis with this resolution into the edit.

My second question would be how to handle the native r3d files in Resolve and how to set up my grading project.
I know that you can change the pixel aspect ratio in resolve to desqueeze the clips but how to properly crop the clips for 2.39:1 aspect ratio?

I would really appreciate this! Thank you very much.

I presume you're talking about Scarlet-X, as Scarlet-Dragon has ANA modes.

Everything you need is in the "Frame" Tab of RCXp. You can set the desqueeze to "Fit Width 2x" and then create a crop window of 2.39:1 based off of your 2160pixel height (to maximize resolution). Also, I'd avoid presets as you're dealing with some pretty wonky numbers/desqueezing... It's a 16:9 or 1.9:1 frame, cropped to ~4:3ish, then desqueezed by two -- while that seems simple, presets botch it pretty hard as they could be expecting 2.66:1 aspect ratio of a 4:3 sensor and/or are expecting footage shot in a proper ANA mode (of which the Scarlet-X has none).

thnx but that was my first test and actually i was confused how to make true cinemascope scale and all that stuff so i stretched it in red cine, made an export out there from 4k to 1080 and just inserted to my fcpx project thats why it is so wide)) the most disgusting thing was to look at the red screen while shooting and to make focus adjustments cause that kowa prominar 16h lens have there own focus so u have to adjust focus twice and it sucks.....
