  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet 8x meets the Iron Horse

I guess that the footage could be finally in the next RED demo reel...

Looking cool. I hope RED will contact me if they need someone to REALLY push their camera to the limits for. ;) Seriously
I'm not saying you aren't capable, but their are enough armchair filmmakers on this site and enough people getting overly jealous about the giant pat-on-the-back RED has deservedly given Joseph, so if you want to be taken seriously put a link to some of your work or your CV. Seriously...

Anyway, how do any of you know Joseph hasn't pushed Scarlet to its limits?

Maybe something is wrong with the camera and the results will not be available until the problem is fixed?
What are the limits?

The SF shooting was outside in perfect light conditions on a sunny day.

So the Scarlet was of course not pushed to the limits with low light conditions, by night for example. I bet that some senior operators here could do that easily and do real a stress-test of a Scarlet rig. I can't wait to see some close-ups in night scenes.

How do you know they haven't shot at night or indoors? The fact is people are making assumptions and mixing in accusations for good measure. Seems a bit unreasonable to me, particularly as as it's borne out of nothing more than jealousy.

The Scarlet shooting that we know about. They may have shot under other conditions that they didn't show in the video.

I have no doubt that Ketch and Joesph are just as capable as any 'senior operators here' to shoot camera tests on Scarlet.

Great stuff to see!!!

What a bad timing right now to be in the market for a new camera, a lot of stuff close around the corner.
But no light yet at the end of the tunnel..(unfortunately because of the terrible disaster) .. I can't wait to see the Scarlet 8x fixed in my hand.
I am planning a project where there will be a lot of European city's be filmed...and this Camera would be PERFECT!

Patient...patient... It makes me almost a Zen master by now...hehehe So I learned something too :-D

This might be a stupid "noob" question, but nevertheless - here goes:

Playback: Is it possible to get playback directly off the SSD - right there on the SCARLET's 5" screen? ...Or does it require an external low-res recording playback system?

I couldn't find a resolve to this anywhere...

Currently there is no Playback... once available thru firmware updates will not be any different then to the RED ONE off the CF cards.

It's become a little quiet here after NAB and since RED said they wont be announcing much stuff. But i was wondering when will we be able to see some fixed scarlet footage. The couple seconds with Felix were nice, but it would be great to see how the 2/3" image looks like in the real world.
