  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet 8x internal 120FPS test

haha, the boardslide on the truck was like the 'jumping the shark' moment for me, and i mean that in the best way possible, i hope that makes sense! that was the point where i was finally overwhelmed by the awesomeness of that shot and was just laughing as i was watching. to be honest, as soon as i started watching i forgot to think about it being scarlet footage or slow motion or a test or anything, so that's probably a good thing.

great job, looks really great, love the move. i definitely vote for you to keep making awesome videos, and i'm hoping to see that truck again... maybe that will give you an idea for your next one. ;)

thanks for sharing, the video and the information!

Jarred, are you able to let us know max frame rates at 1080, 2k and 3k?

What sort of compression/REDcode did you use?

3K 2:1, Redcode 8:1, ISO 1000, F2.4, 1/250 shutter, 120fps.

Good old fashioned gear on gear... :)

It was handy to see the focus distances on the screen ( and stored in the metadata ) from what Nate was doing mechanically standing on the other side of the stage with his little preston controller. The lens as encoders to tell it where it is at all times so autofocus or manual focus, it always tells you what distance is in critical focus.

Thanks Mr Land. Critical bit of info for me. The electronic 'gap' between fingers and lens has worried me, so its nice to see and hear that its business as expected. The shot isn't bad either B)

say what?! did you just drop this information or have i missed it, that's awesome news!

i really was going to go to sleep a few hours ago, then y'all got me riled up...

Great conceptual piece. Kinda hard to top this one.
Would've been cool to have an epic version to compare them on a big screen.

Great footage Jarred.

Awesome - this is going to be one sweet little package!

Cool.

My first thought was:
Gee that guy operating the Dolly must have some balls, and be quite a runner...

I do agree, though - some tests are better not done with charts!

Thanks

great stuff Jarred! I was clicking the link thinking it was going to be something simple like a coin toss. What a treat!

haha, yeah. i was expecting a glass of water or a glass breaking, or something. i knew we were in for it when i saw the clip was a minute and a half... :)

you wouldn't rather see a color chart and a video slate closing @ 120fps? hehe...

Thanks

Rory's manager to Rory :

" You need to go up to the studio tomorrow and push your boss and an incredibly expensive prototype Scarlet on a dolly as fast as you can for 130 feet right towards a brick wall, make sure you stop a foot before the wall but no sooner or you will ruin the shot. Sound good...? Oh yeah, it will be too dark to see the crossbars on the tracks your running along so keep those knees up because if you fall Jarred and Scarlet will die :) "

Heh heh.. poor Rory. He has been with us less than a month. The day of the shoot was the first time we actually met. What a Rockstar.

hahaha, well at least you know what you want. that's pretty funny though, sounds like you're blessed with some dedicated people around you, and that's awesome! you've been stepping up your game lately, and we're lovin it.

BTW
What stop was this shot at, and this is the fixed proto, right?

I really think deep focus is severely underestimated these days...

Got 120fps working in the Scarlet 8x prototypes this week.. did a quick little test on Stage 6 at the studio for fun.

720p ProRes LT
This is some amazing footage Jarred, you are very talented. I love the quality of the camera and how detailed everything is wrapped with so much production value. If the scarlet makes such an awesome image, why do I need my EPIC-M? mmmm
