No name yet. Just waiting on the side handle for lighter weight redvolt shooting.

Serial # 429 in Seattle, WA
SO order number was 942. Pure coincidence I imagine.

My computers are all from Frankenstein. (Frankenstein is the server, Doctor is the workstation, Igor is the laptop etc.) So I'm tempted to name is Caroline after Caroline Frankenstein who dies of SCARLET fever.

Sadly for it, happily for me, I'll be flying out tomorrow AM and won't be able to shoot anything for a week haha. But glad it's here all the same waiting for me.

By the way my Viewfactor backplate is a little wobbly. Anyone else have that?

Congrats. If I were you, I'd take it with you to wherever you're going. Lol

Is that a GMP battery?

Yes it is, and so far so good.

Are you sure your VF plate is installed correctly? There should be no wobble. Does it 'click' all the way into place?
No I'm not sure. :D It does seem to sit down all the way, the wobble is exclusively forward/backwards not up/down. I sent in an email to ask if it was wobbling too much or if I did something wrong. I'm suspicious I did something wrong since there is a teeny tiny screw in a red bag whose purpose I can not ascertain from the instructions, nor can I find any port to screw into. Perhaps it's a 'calibration' pin to ensure a snug fit. I'm sure VF will be able to answer confidently, I emailed them a little video shot on cell phone. It only wobbles about 1/3-1/2 of a washer thickness so it's just enough to go "click click click" and has a tiny gap between the washers and the plate.

I would love to too but it's an awkward beast without a side grip of any kind. With the VMount battery it weighs a ton and really belongs on a tripod and it's currently uninsured for the next couple of days so I dare not risk it going through TSA security even as carry on. I'm also not really going anywhere terribly scenic or all of the above would get overruled by my less rational nature. :D

And did I mention how great the picture is? Delicious. SOOOOOOOooooooo much better than the 5D. I'll shoot some side-by-side when I get back. I was shooting a little 5k HDR today and just a 2k crop of that was cleaner and sharper than the full 1080p 5D frame.

Playback is pretty slick too. Does anyone know if the I/O points get stored in metadata?

Lastly I got into an odd 'funk' today. The TC turned blue and I couldn't record anything until I rebooted. Any idea what button I hit to do that and how to get out of it without rebooting?

I would say so far my least favorite part of the current Firmware is selecting an option from a drop down. That works about 10% of the time. Also tapping an option instead of sliding from side to side works about 30% of the time. Hit registration could use a lot of work in general with the touchscreen. But still significantly easier and more intuitive than shooting with any other camera I've ever shot with the exception of DSLR Remote http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/android-dslr-remote-control-app-video-05-08-.2011/

I also was largely unsuccessful getting touch focus to work reliably in low light. Again, the DSLR Remote app seems a little further developed. But certainly nothing I'm sure that RED isn't already refining for future builds.

Wich GMP is it 230wh? Looks thick.

Gavin, it screws into the quick release button to keep it from accidentally releasing :)
