  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet 2/3" Fixed @ CES

Pity, cause Cinevate's Cyclops was being adjusted to fit this screen size and would have been a good enough way to skip the Bomb EVF which is way out of my budget. I hope someone would suggest a cheaper viewfinder....

RedRock Micro is selling a HD EVF for 600 bucks. Seems legit and quite promising as an affordable solution, as always from RRM.

I'm curious. As far as Scarlet shipments, will RED One owners have priority over those who aren't?

I'd think RED One owners would receive enough reward by not only getting their EPICs ahead of those who aren't, but also by getting a 100% trade-in value from their RED One for the EPIC.

I think it'd be kind of sad to have to wait for 7500+ Scarlets to be delivered before I get a shot at throwing my name in the hat for getting one...but that's just me.

Curious as to what RED's thought on the matter is...

This was one of Jarred's answers to your own "Ten Questions":

3 What priority will RED One owners have over those who have been saving all funding for Scarlets/tons of modules?
RED ONE owners who have not executed their cameras for Stages 1-3 of the EPIC program will have a short window of priority on Scarlet packages.

I seem to recall reading RED owners not going for Epic could also "execute" their R1s for a one-time discount on a Scarlet purchase, but can't find a link ...

I'm with you, Joseph. Ultimately, it's Red's camera to sell, and they can sell it to whom they want, but the selfish part of me doesn't want to wait any longer! :reddevil:

I was a college student when the Red One was released to the world, but with no money and living on ramen noodles, just the thought of a Red One was a dream.
Now that I have a great job, the Epic dream is now a reality, but I have to wait until the end of the year for mine. I know it's only fair that Red One owners get theirs first, but it's so hard for me to smile. If only I was a rich college student 4 years ago, I would be getting an Epic in the summer, instead of the cold, dark 7000K white balanced winter. Damn! The fact of the matter is, is that even though I had no money in 2006, I still new about the Red One and I believed it was the future. That still doesn't make me a Red One owner, I know. But the gift of Epic for Christmas 2011 sounds fine.

True. I'm just curious about the thousands of people who will be buying an EPIC and still want a Scarlet (or a number of Scarlets) as well.

Count me in on the wanting a Scarlet in addition to the Epic...that we're on the list for already. No brainer for that size & price...can't wait.

I'm also interested in this Joseph.

Jim; I'm SURE you guys have talked about this already. I'm just curious as to whether it's to early for us to know the answer to this.

Elimination of the 2.8" LCD would suggest the 5" LCD (seen in the video) will now be part of the kit. Original price of the 2.8" was $800 and the 5" was $1200... That suggests a price bump of about $400. Not terrible, all things considered. I guess we'll see.

I'm still waiting to see how they're going to provide battery power to the Scarlet since Ted said once again, that the handle is "optional".

Not just you. Pretty much everyone I know is in that camp.
We have a low budget 3D film coming up late summer that requires a small form factor rig, and we'd hate to have to spend the budget on renting when we could be buying.

But then I'd still be behind about 7079 people in line. My vote says we do it by post count. Then I'd have only about 40 in front of me. :posti:

hehe...

Haha, I suppose I could deal with post count...

By the way, when are some Scarlet interviews going to come out of CES? I thought it would have started by now!

Doh! I knew I should have contributed more...

Seriously whats with the lack of CES footage... Im gearing up for TED at NAB I just wonder if I can shake his hand..and maybe a photo op??? *I sound like a stalker*

Maybe a lottery to win the right to buy a Scarlet ? :D

I just hope to get mine for this summer...doc to shoot in august.

If that happened, I'd still win without changing my habits...

Does it count for something that I restrain from posting "ditto" on almost every one of your posts? You do have a habit of beating me to all the worthwhile questions and comments.
