I'm in the market for a top handle for my Scarlet, was just going to get the x one (with the mounts) but I saw RED had one of their own;

Have any of you tried this out? Is this all I need? My concern is a couple of the recommended accessories to go along with this. But, it looks like you can just mount this 'as-is' onto the top plate.

Can anyone confirm before I buy this?

Thanks!

I've actually used all of them. I'm currently using the Red Sliding Top Handle and 100mm SWAT Rail as it's secure and very quickly can slide off for compact travel or rigging the camera differently.

The DSMC Tactical Top Handle is pretty cool. It's low profile, bolts down, and provides more rail and bolting area. One thing you can do with it is mount it horizontally for those who still like their rails to go "across the body" instead of along the body. It's good to go as is and it comes with the mounting bolts you need for it.

If you are using any bowl system I highly recommend getting a top handle of some sort. It's a nice and convenient way to grab onto the camera and precisely position it for leveling. Good from getting the camera to and from setups and you can even operate hand held if you want with them. To me, it's a must have.

I'm not sure I understand your horizontal mount comment - picture?

Thanks
Eric

I don't have one in front of me at the moment, but this can give you an idea of what I'm talking about:

Typically though, shooter mount it the other direction.

Thanks Phil. I think I understand.
