  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

[(RED) WTB] SCAM ALERT: Craig Kuna A.K.A. Ixander Bussi

Wow, guys! So glad I'm not involved here, but it sure is exciting to read about!

Just tagging another name: a user here named Dominik Danowski was the one who put me in contact with his business partner, "Ryan Tidrick" (another name for Craig Kuna, apparently).

Honestly, we are a pretty easy target. The RED stuff being bought/sold here is just affordable enough for us to let down our guards the tiniest bit. And it's a numbers game. 8/10 of us avoid it. 1 of us gets in touch and smells something fishy. But 1 will bite. In my experience, the price for the products was completely reasonable (y'know, assuming he was actually selling it).

Thankfully threads like this exist to change the game on these scammers.

Got scammed by this guy, too! Probably will be refunded by PayPal thankfully. Damn why are people so rotten?
 
Funny, I just hit "Submit" on a new Canon Lens Mount order after I agreed earlier today to buy a used one from Craig Knowles (offered via PM). I decided I need at least *one* lead online.

Warning signs:

- Reverse phone number search returns nothing / invalid number (Intelius said this)
- Reverse phone number search returns that it's a VOIP number (created online, you can pick your number & its location)
- PMs with no/little posts
- Referring to "we" / "our" / "my business partner"
- ?? (feel free to share your warning signs)

None of these are fool-proof (I barely post, I have VOIP for my business that routes to my cell phone, for example), but worth raising your suspicion.
 
The biggies are dont work outside paypal goods and services and dont workoutside reduser. He got me via email I got my money back but its a pain in the butt.
 
Stuff like this just makes me angry. Just posting here as a fairly new red user trying to build up trust and relationships within the forums. Just made my first (small) purchase earlier this week for a lens mount. Needless to say, it was legit and I got it yesterday. There are great people on the forums, and I swear Im one of them :cheers2: Hopefully this happens to him :emote_hanged:
 
Wow, that's really terrible. In addition to a SW we got directly from RED I ended up buying a used Raven from here in Reduser... which luckily did show up just as described. I feel like one of the lucky ones. With Raven shortages, I can imagine the scams are only going to get worse.
 
Beware of the names Elliot Stern, Leonard Chisholm, or Tyreek Sims / Simms. These names made posts very similar to those posted by Dominik Danowski / Craig Kuna / Ryan Tidrick. West Broadcast HD (http://www.westbroadcasthd.com) is a fake business and a scam! I got conned by them last year so be careful!
 
While looking for a mini-mag side SSD for my Dragon I was contacted by a guy named Michael W...:
"Someone over at Reduser told me that you were interested in a Red Mini Mag SSD Module. I have the one that says "Dragon" on it. I am selling my Epic Dragon package and don't mind selling everything separate. "

So I asked him for pictures for evaluation, and send me some. Just before agreeing on the price + pay-pal-fees I noticed that is email-dress suddenly had changed. Only one letter in his surname was difference. Then suddenly he wanted to speed up the sale with this message:
"Send to my PayPal email vouching@outlook.com
Please send as family or friends to avoid fees and to avoid the 72 hour delay hold that will delay shipping. Also send me your shipping address. Be on the lookout for a tracking number. "

I mailed him again and asked him why he was using three different email-addresses; why he would take a fully functional Dragon apart and sell the parts? And I asked him for his Facebook. Never heard from him again!
 
Just got scammed by the same person as Julian listed: Jeffrey Bardt & LENARD CHISHOLM.

I'm in the early stages of looking into this. I should have taken better precaution. He seemed pretty educated on RED's & film equipment. I took the transaction through venmo which has an investigation pending in which his "Roommate" requested me since his account wouldn't let him find my account. It was for a 7.0" touch which photos were provided.

If anyone has more info this would help out a ton!

never do venmo, they dont have the same safety nets as PayPal as its based on a "people you know and trust" network. sorry that happened Alex!
 
Wow im going to be very carefull when purchasing ive almost saved up enough to start looking for a scarlet dragon but hate buying used online lol will see how it goes.
