San Francisco Bay Area Red Users

you can PM me if you'd like to get together to test your camera with the Red 18-50mm zoom .... you'd have to come to berkeley ....

Don,

Thanks a ton! Meeting with you was a learning experience. The camera test was a happy side note.

Like I said, if you ever seek a crew hand...

Revolution!

Revolution!

Finally, the revolution has begun! And they said all the old San Francisco hippies were dead... we'll have to initiate our own little Santa Cruz group at Lulu Carpenter's...

Chris.

here here! :) I just started the SCRUG thread (love that acronym!). Of course, I'm still up for the SF meeting whenever that happens.

Hi guys,
I am an HVX 200/ Brevis 35 adaptor user who is contemplating a switch over to a Red, and would love to join your user group as a wannabe if it is still happening. Is it still happening? Would be cool to geek out a bit with you all.

I am kind of in the same boat as this guy. I was looking to shoot some Visual Effects compositing test shots next week with a friend who attends the Academy of Art (we were going to make use of their green screen studio) using my HVX200, however some buttons decided to stop working. Unfortunately the Academy only loans HVX's to grad students, don't even think about the Red camera.

I was hoping a Red user here would be down to help as fill in for a day or two tops (we are willing to accomodate your schedule). Keep in mind we are students, while we can throw a few greenbacks your way for gas and troubles, 500 a day is simply out of our budget.

If you have reservations I understand being the owner of a decent (though admittedly not nearly as hot) camera. However feel free to ask me questions or if you want to meet up with me in person beforehand (I am based out of San Jose though I attend classes at Berkeley, and my Academy friend is in Foster City).

The only thing else I can offer is our labor in exchange. I've done some grip work and on set assistance (AC and PA). He's done some AC work, and is working towards a Visual Effects compositing and lighting background. I will be gone after the next week but my friend can get you access to the greenscreen studio in the future (from what I'm told every wall including the floor is green, not sure about ceiling.)

In addition I have a tripod and p2 card along with a hvx200 that only records but does not capture and will need fixing. I know I know. That's like a lightweight offering to be a heavyweight's bodyguard, but I want you know this isn't some hit and run demand for favors. I am a man of my word and my labor is my currency.

I'm an Executive Producer who just bought a RED camera & complete accessories to supplement the rest of our camera inventory (Panasonic HVXs, etc).

I realize how little I know about this camera, and I'm trying to find out if there's anyone out there who's established this community in San Francisco. I'm sorry, but I don't have time to travel to Santa Cruz.

Just throwing it out there and seeing if anyone's listening. Thanks!

Hello. I'm in the Fremont Area. Work in the South Bay. I just shot a 2-camera RED shoot two weeks ago. I'm going a web series and run www.bayareafilmmakers.com

Hi DC

We have been running a RED camera system and five RED 4k edit suites for about a year and a half now and know the rascal inside out, as well as consulting on post-workflows and the like. I'm in town quite often, so if you feel like buying me a very large Latte and hooking up give me a shout at 831.477.1806 or drop me a note at chris@CLAi.tv and we'll see if we can make something happen!

Feel free to give me a call (510-655-1283) and visit us in the East Bay (Oakland/Emeryville border). Got our Red almost 2 years ago and am almost finished building our stage for green screen work. I am also offering a new service which may be of interest to you; please see www.RedZephyrCam.com.
