Reaching out to San diego area folks interested in the RedOne. I am planning to host some sessions in early Spetember called SEE RED. A few of us have aleady met to talk about the camera and how we might support each other in being successful campaigning it outside of the LA vortex.

I'm in San Diego several times a month, and used to be based there...count me in to network with "da SD boyz"!

My wife is from SD, so we come to visit her "peeps" there regularly...plus I dig surfing in the North County...

Very cool karma you've got going. I am a San Deigan by nature. Lived and surfed in Cardiff for 20+ years, graduated UCSD, and consider North County my home.

My 4k RED shot wish list in SD includes the squid spawn off La Jolla Shores and the blue whale migration in the Summer ( abiding by all federal and state laws that protect these beautiful creatures).

Although I'm in La Paz, BCS, Mex....SD is about the closest jumping point for me where there are other RED activists. Mexico city is another wolrd away....great but just easier to get to SD and travel to SD more often anyway.

If there's a RED SD group forming to share ideas, utilize equipment or other....I'm with he SD collective.

Most of my work is natural history doc and stock underwater footage....so I'm on a steep learning curve with you focus pulling, dolly cranking, studio setup, DP's. What i do happens fast, on the fly and without second takes....so this is a new field moving from 1080p/720p & 1080i for me up to 4k and the myrid of glass options you film guys are used to working with.

Look forwad to some great images that will be shot. Feel free to pm or email me if you want me to add any details.

Hey Thinkbug,
Whale sharks--loads of em here in La Paz at the right time. They are now just arriving and easy to spot with an ultralight....i have a small two seater on floats which makes them extremely easy to find. But yes....very cool to see in the water as they feed and makes for interesting images.
 
I will be in San Diego in October, November and December before the snow comes and would be down to get together anytime.

I live in LA, but grew up in Encinitas, I am in SD a few times a month. I would love to attend the next See Red, please let me know when it happens.
 
Our camera won't show up until April or May. Anyone getting theirs in the SD area sooner than that? We'd love to see one in action...

Know this is a relatively old thread, but please count me in! Finally ordered my RED today, after months of lurking.
