  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sam Druckerman

Nice Sam. Thank you for the split-screen!

I assume the ones on the right are 1:1?

Not 1:1 actually - 1:1 on the 5K image would have probably shown a single rivet of the wing!

Just wanted to zoom in on the wing area near the sun to show that it was clipped in the regular pass and how HDRx™ saved my ass.

Watching it in loop all the time @ 1080 full screen HP LP2480zx 709 Rec (only error is a pink vertical line at the right edge as a result of beta RCX bug???!!!)

Not RCX bug but BOE (Bruce Operator Error) bug ;) Will post better 1080p version soon of course!

Thanks for the still and video of the shot playing back in Vienna. Often when I post a video I feel like the only person who'll ever see it will be me. Kinda surreal and fun to see it on your computer!

Yea that's what I thought. I couldn't figure what else it could be from a pixle-peeping approach, other than perhaps 2k, but I just wanted to ask you to know. Thank you very much for posting this.

Sam, Matt, Bruce... thanks for the footage.

Really looks amazing, and yet I know this party is just getting started!

Hey Sanjin!!! Coooooooool man:)

Guys,

btw, I have got troubles with a MacPro desktop (virus, now solved) and to pull out my old MBP and with a little help from Magma ExpressBox Pro and it worked flawless.

Also that little Magma enclosure can help with REDROCKET card on the road.

Then I was happy to play your extraordinary footage even during my desktop hardware troubled times.

RED dreams big, so we can.

Up next is a Very Special Treat, operated by Bruce... made possible by Matt who took us out on a fantastic flight and spoon-fed us killer shots.

For the past five days, Bruce has been dreaming up HDRx™™™™ shots, wherever we went.... And I have to say IMO, this shot says everything you need to know about this killer new RED tool.

The following eye candy provided by Matt's flying skills, and Bruce's excellent eye.

Thanks for Posting, Bruce. It's a great example... I think this clearly illustrates when you benefit from HDRx™™™ and when you don't

There's also a controlled wedge test that we shot - I think we'll see that in a couple of days, but this is more fun to watch and will tell you the same thing

I've been having so much fun, running around with my friends, playing with the camera!!! Such a treat...

It's basically been a great party, with good friends, both old and new.... I want to thank these guys for making my Epic celebration off the hook!

I'm going start with Bruce Allen, whose skills are ridiculous.... Bruce has been my right hand man this last week, and we have been smiling the entire time. Matt Uhry, who stepped up with his incredible talent, and as if that wasn't enough..... he threw his plane into the ring! I said it before, I'm very lucky guy.

Matt Garrett, Ruben Russ, jumped on the party bus today, sharing their talent as well.

Everyone has been taking turns at the wheel, and in the future look for more bit's of fun from the rest of the gang....

But tonight, Matt Uhry pulled the rabbit out of the hat, as he drove tonight's 1st offering! Just a quick run through RedCineX... we'll do a DaVinci grade later.

Jarred, this one's for you..... Enjoy :)

This is so amazing.. I am turning to my wife.. Look at this now look at this.. The skin tones in the highlights the slow motion. The detail! Well done

Sam, Matt, Bruce, you guys kick ass. That airplane shot is the best example of HDRx™ I've seen yet. Incredible!!

You guys and HDRX kick ass!

We traded in our "Zzzzzss" for "Mmmmm"s.... breaking a few laws along the way.... Having this much fun should not be legal!

Courtesy of the Magic Man himself, Matt Uhry.... Watch how he levitates us over So Cal with ease, and pulls gorgeous shots at touchdowns along the way! :)

usual disclaimers: just done to share the fun with our fellow RED felows on the board, one-light in RedCineX, etc...

Matt, Bruce and I want to say.... Thanks to RED, for all the good times.
Thanks for sharing Sam ! The 2.40 and the B&W are my favorite... :-)

What's the music ? Love it.

Hey, Stefan....

Your welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Most of that was shot by Matt Uhry, and he cut that together as well. I'm sure if he gets a chance he will chime in and share about the music.

I have to say, I'm blown away with Matts skills!! All that was shot in 2 half day sessions, on the third he cut this montage together, so we could share it on the board.

He's an amazing DP, and very humble.... so I imagine he may not like me saying this. But, we're friends, and I know he'll get it over it ;)

Matts A Rock Star!, no question about it.... KILLER DP, great guy, and a blast to hang out with.

Just one of many many examples.... When he shot the skateboarder, there was no dolly, no anything. We were running around the streets having fun... So he got down really low, hand held, and waddled along with the skateboarder, and had to move really fast in that position, to get the shot. When I saw it played back, it was WOW!!

Great Job Matt, Thanks man.

That test is really nicely presented.
A fantastic (very 'filmic') aspect of HDRx™ is that the 'X" channel gives a chromatically perfect transition into white - you're not likely to be dealing with the sensor's limits anymore (unless you REALLY overexpose) , so you're not having to deal with color channels coming to their limits at slightly different exposures.

Sam flatters me!

Music is Justice "Genesis" as remixed by Chewie Chocolate Cookies

I got lucky, it was the first thing I tried and worked with minimal tweaks.

This is such a great example Bruce, Matt, and Sam!

* note to self - get 256GB SSD cards - turn HDRx™™™ on for ALL EXT day full sun = or < 48fps

it seems to composite so damn well
