RPPs - a question for Jim / RED

Of course we are high on RPPs... as we should be. They are big but don't disappoint... especially for the price. Optically, they are every bit as good as a Master Primes (although slower) but are lacking in focus marks as compared to the Zeiss.

Jim, did you ever consider going back to RPPs to add more focus marks, make them more like the lenses people are used to (UPs & MPs)? not to take away the job from Matt Duclos or anything (http://matthewduclos.wordpress.com/2010/12/18/rppline/)

Jim, during realizing, that the RPPs are lacking focus marks, do you have any plan on changing that? I know that Ketch did remark some - was it with Duclos?
But wouldn't that be a good thing to optimize on your side? Seems fairly(!) easy to be done, or is there something which prevents you from changing that?

Also, I remember you had plans to expand the RPP line with 14mm and 135mm lenses (if I remember correctly). Is that still on the roadmap?

Lightweight primes would a perfect combo for a lightweight camera like the Epic...really the weight of the RPPs are their only downside in my book. (I can deal with the lack of markings as it's easy to remedy)

But with such a small camera, a heavy lens should be less of a problem... no? Markings could also be updated to a v.2 version of the lens, like the 17-50 without the saucer, no?

How much bigger are the RPPs to the MPs btw.?

Once you add the RPP, Mattebox and follow focus it becomes very front heavy....lighter lenses help a lot and make the Epic much more enjoyable for quick handheld situation.

Use other lenses for hand-held work. The RPP seems perfect for narrative work, and a 14mm would surly be welcome...

Remember, RED have stated that they are working on RED Electronic lenses. Here's hoping they're still on the roadmap, they are lighter, with more markings.

THE RPP 18, 25 & 35 are indeed very heavy, and much heavier than Masters.

But the glass is good.

Thing is to find a good way to balance the camera.
