  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ROCKETcine-X XML workaround

Alex,

More you know how to utilize the RSX then more you'd look forward to this wouldn't you?
I'll do my best to test it quick so you get to see this soon.

I was thinking this is also useful for other application but come to think about it, REDALERT! can't read multiple file, so it works the best with ROCKETcine-X, thus this makes great promotion to encourage people buying REDROCKET.

Thanks Kaku for your amazing idea about that workaround and also to Hans for his great help with the new version of Clipfinder.

I would like to add that with the following hardware configuration you can get a "budget" workstation that can easy cut, grade and conform with R3D files real-time.

Minimum hardware requirements:

I describe what I have got and just waiting for new version of Clipfinder to implement this workflow.

You can have any 8x Mac Pro with maximum memory installed.

- Mac Pro any x8 capable Mac Pro even older with maximum 32 GB memory (OWC)

- Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT (minimum).

Other very important hardware parts:

- Fast RAID with speed up to 500MB/s.

- Compatible RAID ExpressPCI host adapter.

- REDRocket card with ROCKETcineX app.

- AJA Kona 3 video card

- AJA Hi5-3G HD-SDI to HDMI converter.

- HP LP2480zx DreamColor monitor with HP DreamColor Eye-One calibrator.

- Tangent Wave grading suite control surface.

With this combination is possible to watch 10 bit quality grading pictures at 1080p thanks to the combination of AJA Hi5-3G that can convert

from Kona 3 HD-SDI out PsF into true progressive (10-bit per color channel that is RGB=30-bit) and bring it to HP DreamColor 30-bit monitor.

Heart of the system is REDRocket card and ROCKETcineX app!!!

Thanks to the HP DreamColor monitor's multiput inputs (DVIx2, HDMI,...) you would be able to watch on one monitor your cut,

grade and your final footage in R3D real-time using REDRocket and ROCKETcineX.

Amazing.

Some things are not of course in a real-time because of limitations that can be found using FCP and Color

but you would have almost something like a Scratch or even DVS Clipster workstation on budget.

My birthday gift from Hans.

I meant the present was the credit in the software.

Congrats Kaku.

Sorry, I didn't even read the text in grey letters....

Is this Clipfinder 2.2 beta or is it a newer one (alpha)?

Mr. Balaji,

Just kidding about the birthday present, but it's on alpha testing among the testing members and Hans will make this available as paid software. He said it will be 1% of how much REDROCKET costs.

RED ROCKET>>$4,750 : 100 = $47.5.

Right?

yes, just for the Flight Director.

Hi!

Happy birthday Kaku !

I tested Hans Clipfinder/Fight Director Alpha version yesterday night and put it to heavy work. Took a coffee, and waited... :)
After all, it's an Alpha version, so maybe it'd crash...normal...:)

NOTHING CRASHED!!!! EVERYTHING WORKS BEAUTIFULLY HERE!!!!

It's incredible how Hans was able to produce such a solid app, and that, in so little time.

I'm speechless really :)

Now, we can edit proxies in Final Cut, export XML to Clipfinder, launch Clipfinder, and let Flight Director take control of Rocket CineX/Red Rocket. Once transcode is finished, just conform as usual, et voilà!!!!

This is an incredible app to say the least.

It's not a "workaround" anymore, it's a very well thought powerfull app.
Very easy to use, logical, professional, solid, made for real life.

Hans, you could also call it "Control Freak" heh heh :)

I'm amazed.

Bonjour or Grüezi Antoine!(?)

Also Happy birthday Kaku!

Sorry again but I forgot it in all my confusion and mess just because I'm installing a lot of new hardware that REDRocket

related at the moment and that incredible news about Clipfinder Flight Director made my day more happy.

Once more have a look at amazing little Magma with REDRocket together, one nice on set or studio combo of all our RED dreams!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Kaku. Thanks for being an active and contributing member of the forum - Lim

I'm glad that I can clearly contribute something back to this community this way. Of course with Hans greatness.

Thank you for everyone's kind words and too bad I can't share the cup cakes my wife Nancy makes for me every birthday.

Kaku, I am making plan to visit Japan this year. Definitely will be making plan to drop by to meet Ito-san in person - Lim

Lim-san, many people do so since I'm right close from Shibuya station. Please feel free to stop by.

Just imagine even this amount of clips, the cumbersome process to set in/out manually.
