  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ROCKETcine-X XML workaround

ok so edit red proxies (currently busted with build 20 colour wise :( )

then what? can you explain the workflow?

export XML > Load into clipfinder > conform ..

then what?

I dont get the render button ?

Surely you load in/out clips into rocketcine-x grade then render withing the app no ?

all very exciting stuff.. well done chaps.

QuickTime component 3.9 seems to use the new colour science. Not seen it explicitly stated by Red, but it appears to be the case.

The alpha version of Clipfinder takes control of RocketCine X, and sets in/out points based on XML from FCP, then starts renders going and then moves the resulting files into one folder. Nothing you couldn't do manually with RocketCine X alone, but it automates it very nicely.

can you pause between sets in/out points and renders so you can go through your clips and CC ?

tempted to nip down to RedUK and pick a RR up :)

thanks for the heads up on 3.9 will give it a go on some B18 clips.

thanks mate

Well, well this little workaround could change the way we use RR.
If I could bring each clip as close to the final look as possible before conversion and then finish in my grading system from DPX - I'd be happy to start my session on RR first :-)

Dado: Exactly :)

Nick thanks..

Hans.. bring it on! :)

so when can we buy the app?

I don't know, it works with no crash with me but Hans maybe having stability issue, or he's waiting to see what will be changed in the new ROCKETcine-X build.

This is what i need right now. Please hans release it.

I asked to Hans to have two modes, grading preparation and auto rendering.
So you can use the grading preparation to call up the clips for grading (in/out points are automatically adopted at this points unless you want to change and the handles could be set when you import the XML), do your baselight, then choose the output codec setting of your choice, then go back to Flight Director and select automatic rendering.

I actually didn't expected on the auto render part but Hans made it happen.

My only wish is for him to come out with the final conforming XML generation like how Monkey Extract does with its output section.

So what is the state of this app! I really need for cant find where to buy!

Has there been any progression with Clipfinder getting XMLs to REDCINE-X?

Since ROCKETcine-X does not read XML at this moment, but my job requires to render a lot of edited files. I wanted to load up only the clips in the edited timeline on the XML for baselight with ROCKETcine-X.

I realized that I can use Monkey Extract or Clipfinder for this.
You can load the XML in say Monkey Extract, then export to REDCINE feature in the rendering section. Monkey Extract generates the XML for REDCINE AND the aliases for the R3Ds that are used in the XML. Simply load those aliases and you can just deal with the clips in the timeline.

You can use Clipfinder's move feature, too, but I feel safer using the above method.

Now, does anyone know how to applied in/out points in the edit XML to transfer to metadata in/out parameter?

Is this possible in REDCINE-X?
