Nook, I will check on that with Snow Leopard.

Kaku -

Thanks for your effort to help me on my issue. But my issue is not the PCI-e slot related. What I'm having trouble with is that I can't get 1920x1080 QT out of 2K R3D's. 4K and 3K come out correctly re-sized, but 2K R3D's always come out with its original size no matter what.

Again, thanks for your support though.

Nook, I already emailed you last week on that that bug was found and fixed and also sent you a test build to try. Did you not get the emails?

My apologies..

My apologies..

Deanan -

I'm very sorry that I didn't notice your e-mails. I guess I didn't recognize your name with your full name. Now I know your last name, this won't happen no more :) I will test the fix you sent as soon as I get back from shooting.

Once again, my apologies to you. I was thinking somehow I was the only one you weren't responding to. For my negative thinking, I feel like I owe you something. Let me know if you ever come visit Korea.

Cheers.

Nice improvements overall, thanks Deanan and team. But I'm disappointed it still won't write files larger than 2GB to a AFP server, which is what our whole workflow is based on. I still have to transcode to a local drive then copy over to the server, and that got tiresome some time now.

Jeremy,

I've tested our SmallTree GraniteSTOR connected to Xserve with DAS and providing 10Gb and 1Gb ethernet connections to the clients. It is based on AFP, but you can also turn the NFS on then it does not have 2GB limit.
Both connections can be on, so you can read from AFP (where the R3D is) then render to NFS.

Also, Chris@SmallTree says, the AFP problem should be something minor and he provided some information to RED team to fix it.

Hi everyone,
I'm on set right now transcoding to Prores and also (trying) to output DNxHD as well, but RocketCine-X crashes before outputting the first clip every time.
I've tried restarting and no luck.
The system outputs to ProRes or uncompressed no problem...it's just the DNXHD that crashes the system.
Running a MacPro Nehalem on Snowleopard.
Anyone else experienced this or have a suggestion?
Thanks,

Brian

Email me the log file please.
There are a couple of gotchas that are being worked on by Avid for the next release and you may have hit one of them...
1. Don't use true 24p
2. Make sure there are no spaces in the file path

Thanks Deanan,

There were most likely spaces in the file path (don't have the drives anymore as the shoot is over)...not an issue normally with mac and FCP ProRes settings. Should have known better!
Yesterday I brought the Redrocket on set and data managed 2 cameras (backing up to 3 drives), (sometimes operating B cam), plus transcoded to ProResHQ and tried Avid. Shuttled a lacie rugged back and forth to the editor who was cutting off the Prores files after ingest. Didn't really have time to troubleshoot:-)
Sometimes I miss the days of dragging 8GB cf cards onto my Macbook Pro, and calling it a day. lol
I'll email the log file anyways.
Cheers,

Brian

Noticed a strange thing.Might be wrong but getting a feeling it has something to do with the Rocket or with the wd passport 500gb portable drive.
two instances:
1) I was playing files with Rocket while they were being copied from a reddrive. Rocket froze. Finder froze the copy process. On reboot disk unreadable. Reconnected using USB all is fine.

2) during copy process mac reboots. Never encountered that before. lost some files. Me dump ass - check the sizes after copy.

I have an issue where Metadata always shows up as 4288K white balance and -8 tint. This is regardless of the camera setting at tungsten/3200 or daylight/5600k with 0 tint.
Does anyone know how to clear the program/software reading the metadata incorrectly?
I haven't had a chance to update to the new version of RocketCine-X (yesterdays release)...hoping that will solve the issue.

Hi,

I'm trying to export DNxHD 36 8 bit mxf files from ROCKETcine but it crashes around roughly the same point. I imported the completed mxf into the avid with no problems and decided to try another render with the left over files. It's done most of them but some clips have failed saying "Exporter unable to assign frame to decode" and "exporter unable to process frame:0". We've been having a few record errors and Sata trans faults on shoots recently so could this render issue be a result of dropped frames?

Any help appreciated,

Olivia

Can you please email me the log files?
(deanan at red)

The log files are in userfolder/Library/Application Support/Red/Rocketcinex/logs.

I was having problems exporting to Avid.
So the clients second choice is XDCAM 422
So now I'm trying to transcode to XDCAM 422 1080/24 (footage shot 4K 16:9 23.98) and the footage is coming in very choppy and studdery.
Prores is working fine. No XDCAM render presets work on my system (they are all jumpy and studdery)
Any ideas?
Update: 4hrs of troubleshooting, reinstalling XDCAM codecs and drivers and still no luck. Help!

Thanks

I am just wondering if anyone knows if RocketcineX, or RedcineX will ever have DV25 as a codec option for QT and or MXF?

Cheers,

It's already possible with quicktime.
We can look into adding it for MXF.

Thank you Deanan!
I don't see DV25 specifically as a codec option. But when creating "AvidDV" or "DVCPRO" qts and importing them into an Avid DV25 project the import is Really quick. This workflow is fairly simple too! I was using a different codec before that was taking a Long time to import into avid due to a conversion.
Thanks again!

When you select AvidDV, click the options button to set the DV25 mode specifically.

What's the status of the Windows version of Rocketcine-X? Also, is it too much to hope for a 64-bit version for Windows Vista/7?

We have to pull out quicktime and few other things to make it 64bit.
Not trivial but we're working on it.
