  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Rocket-X Firmware and Driver 2.1.16.0 ALPHA plus RCX 31.1 ALPHA

Thanks, Jarred. This is fantastic.

Will these new firmware and REDCine-X builds support the REDRAY player plugin?

I currently have to run multiple versions and the older version that supports REDRAY doesn't support Dragon...

Many thanks,

Sneak peek Alpha builds for you guys... this opens up another lane on the ROCKET-X card to give a 20% speed boost as well as adds Monochrome support and AJA IO 4K and Kona 4 support.

This is Alpha so it will likely crash along the way.. specially if you are using a HP Z620.

Rocket-X driver 2.1.16.0 + firmware 1.3.17.0:
* Up to 20% speed improvement
* Added support for Mysterium-X & Dragon Monochrome
* Stability improvements

Known issues:
* BSOD can occur on Windows when installing the driver. Installing the driver a second time should fix the issue.
* Potential incompatibility with the HP Z620

REDCINE-X PRO 31.1 Alpha:
* Added: Rocket-X Monochrome support.
* Added: Support for AJA Io 4K and Kona 4 (Note: removes support for Kona 3).
* Note: Rocket-X support requires driver 2.1.16.0 and firmware 1.3.17.0
* Fixed: Issue with OpenEXR upscaled exports when using CUDA.
* Fixed: Issue with QuickTime mono audio layout exports.
* Fixed: Issue with Avid external audio exports.

Not yet. This is alpha to see how this works for you guys while we squash some of the remaining bugs etc :)

Hi Rob,

Is this the max performance for transcode capability?

Is there going to be playback capability enhancement?

Any timeline on the display output?

Great work so far!!

Thank you very much

Fury

Question for RED Team...

Any idea when DEB will be enabled with the RR-X card? Would love to use DEB with the card...

Thanks,
Jay

Same boat, transcoding everything out right now without CUDA or RR-X so that I can use D.E.B. , would be great to know a timeline on being able to use our RR-X cards with D.E.B.

Charles,

D.E.B. does work with CUDA and OpenCL, just so you know.

Hey Grant,

I get OpenCL, really stable that's what I usually have turned on for exports. Not comparable to the speed of CUDA or RR-X.

CUDA on my end hasn't been stable even over the Beta to the Release Build of current RC-X. ( http://d.pr/i/14GPk )

Working on Mac Pro Cheese Grater / GTX 780 3GB / CUDA Driver 6.5.18

Great to see dev resources put into getting more of the potential out of the RR-X! Taking the decoding load off the CPU(s) lets them take care of other tasks far better.

Still dreaming of using the RR-X display spigots to drive UHD/4K monitoring directly so the GPU(s) just have to compute and drive the GUI. Perhaps I can get Bart Simpson to write "Enable the display outs on the RedRocketX" 100 times on the chalkboard... ;-/) Joking aside, really appreciate all the hard work by Rob and the rest of the RedTeam.

Cheers- #19

Charles,

From that screen shot it looks like REDCINE-X is running out of RAM on the GPU. Do you happen to be running any other apps that require a lot of GPU RAM at the same time as REDCINE-X when this happens? Running something like Premiere, Photoshop, or FCPX at the same time could suck up a lot of GPU RAM.

Not sure if I was, I'll check the next time that happens! Thanks Grant!

Ok, thanks for the update.

It would be great if this was made available soon. I've got a bunch of Dragon footage that I'd like to render to .red REDRAY files.

I installed the latest alpha from this thread and the latest After Effects CC 2014. Rocket-X now appears to work in AE but there is an odd behavior where if the viewer is anything less than full res you get a yellow block of color. So even setting the viewer to full res, you get a yellow block when moving the cursor around as it is temporarily low res.

This is on windows 8.1 x64
