Well if you were wondering where all the Dragons are, now you have your answer. They started shooting a few weeks ago in Spain with multiple 3D rigs. IMDB confirms Dragon for the camera.

After seeing Prometheus I was excited to see Ridley Scott do more with Epic! But gosh has anyone done 3D 5K or 4K? 6K must tear your machine to pieces if you ever have to edit online with both streams :O

They'll most likely edit on Avid with offline resolutions if I had to guess.

The bigger question being whether they edit in S3D with full left full right at offline proxy (DNxHD 36, 80, 115) or not.

Figures. Of the few 3D workflows I've seen its been offline in the form of left/right eye only in 1080p DNxHD/ProRes. I guess the better question is what kind of render farm do they have :O Avatar was a big deal with render farms so fast forward now I'm curious if Ridley is going to set any render records ;D

Working with discrete L/R offline media is crazy easy in MC6 and up. In MC5, a single piece of media in side by side or top/bottom would be the best option. Playing back two streams of 6K R3D would indeed be a challenge right this very moment, but once the rocket-x is roaring, it shouldn't be a big deal either. We've been doing real time+ 5K stereo for years. Just gotta throw a little firepower at it :)

That's cool the see Ridely has adopted RED so aggressively.

I got to see some early pre-production artwork for this. The sets are HUGE and gorgeous:

It should be noted that this is being shot by Dariusz Wolski who also shot Prometheus and many other lovely films. Also, this is a real big film for Aaron Paul fresh after the wrap up of Breaking Bad getting dropped in with a big slugger like Christian Bale. Should be a great and epic film.

imdb is you me everybody can fill technical specs data.Any confirmation from RED?

In the various pics posted you can clearly see the cameras have a Red Pro touchscreen mounted, so that in itself would be confirmation, i think.

They were filming on Fuerteventura on Canary Islands in November and December. Saw some sets and stuff. They closed one of the lagoons in north shore and they had 6-8 jetskis to simulate the storm in the water and probally the parting of the sea i assume.

Nice!!!

Fuerteventura is my favourite from Canary Islands, amazing volcanic landscapes and long beaches closest to Africa...West Afrika!!!!
