We're shooting a major network pilot on our Epics using RC3/RG3 and all I have to say is WOW!

At first I thought this was a good but subtle update to RG2/RC2 but now I can honestly say the camera is producing a better monitor image than the Alexa.
We are consistently blown away by the cinematic look it's giving us and at it's capabilities in mixed light and even low CRI keys like LED panels and Sodium/Mercury vapors.
The skin tones are fantastic, very subtle reds and yellows with none of the plastic feeling or purple lips of the Alexa.

I've settled on a standard shooting profile of +1.1 Saturation, -0.1 FLUT and -3 Tint. This seems to produce the best out of camera image we're yet seen on a digital camera.
I wish I could post a sample but the network is keeping everything very close to the chest. If it goes to series I'll let you all know.
Bravo Graeme and Red! Bravo!

Couldn't agree more Evin! I'm gonna try out your settings, and thanks for sharing. RC3/RG3 has finally given us an awesome looking monitor image to show clients and director's on set. No caveats. No fuss. No tweaking monitors. The Epic and Scarlet look good right of the box :) Thanks Red.

I hope this will go along way toward getting people to go with Epic...there are three films shooting in town and all are Alexa even though I offered to let the DOP's test the cameras but nobody took me up on it. It's a real head scratcher, but I can tell you I'm very happy with what we're getting on our own projects.

Evin is right -it's very subtle but looks great. I'm even finding it's a better setting in RCX Pro when exporting clips to Avid...has anyone noticed better results in 709 land with RC3 & RG3 as opposed to REC709?

Agreed RC3/RG3 are awesome! Congrats on the pilot!

wish you well shooting the pilot. I know you as the lens man Evin, lucky production to have your experience.

Best.
