after a week of playing with Komodo i have to say that RF mount is biggest drawback for me so far. I understand that this camera is pointed towards DSLR shooters and that Auto Focus played a major role in this but... am not impressed at all! For all of us shooting with PL lenses this seams like a step in to A7s and GH5 territory rigging up PL adapter to a 15mm rods in order to make the mount properly aligned and rigid. Our camera has significant RF mount free play and only after inspecting other Komodos i have concluded that this is common issue. Again this isnt that important for spherical but in Anamorphic it can screw up the alignment. Finally because of the free play and big tolerances between different manufacturers (Red, Cage, PL adapter) alignment is bit random game. Finally we opted for old school adapter : mount to the rails! its cluncky and silly buy at least int wont move and it wont loose alignment on a lens swap.

Is there a reason why they didn't use locking ring on RF for Komod? Its not like that they dodnt know the issue as DSMC EF and Nikon mounts have this feature since Epic came out. Also they included that on Raptor RF mount; but why not on Komodo?

Likely do to cost, timing, and perhaps it not even being invented yet. Komodo was over a year ago and I imagine V-Ratpor benefitted from what was learned.

While I'll confirm that the locking RF Mount on Raptor is pretty robust, for anybody doing any work with a PL adapter sitting on an RF mount "or any mount similar", support the mount itself via support foot, chin strap, etc. The locking collar is great, but if you want your RF mount to last and you use things like anamorphic lenses or heavier cinema glass, you'll want to properly support the mount.

Right now that typically gets supported to baseplate that lives beneath the camera or a rigid suppot bolted to the camera body or cage.

I have the Tilta PL mount adapter which hard mounts the PL mount to the bottom plate cage from Tilta, This allows a super rigid and well aligned PL mount option, I would suggest checking it out. I use PL mounts the majority of the time with all my cameras, and both of my Komodo's have been great with the Tilta PL adapters.

so far i have tried several options. finally i am using DZO Octopus on to 15LWS lens support on to the rods... still my setup is way to bulky for no reason. After going thru many PL to RF and cage options, in my opinion going with KeaperTie Revolva is only way...

all this could be possible they only have put locking ring like on DSMC2 EF or Nikon mount :( I love output of Komodo bur his dinky mount and a fact that i have disconnect 12G SDI every time i swap a battery its a deal barker for me
