Having just done a low budget feature on my Red with RPP's, I'll have to admit I was very pleased. However, as a d.p., we always would like more. The 18mm was a fine and obvious addition to the original package, but what next? Obviously, a 135mm or 150mm would be a welcome addition. And then fill in between the current sizes. To my surprise, what I missed the most was between the 50 and the 85, perhaps a 65mm would be in order. Imho, that would be really cool to have.

Great to hear the RPP where good for you. I am looking at them for my Epic-X (when they arrive). Any chance of a small selection of stills for each of them as a reference?

Steve

Hi Steve, Ive used RPP on a TV show for 5 months and we were all very pleased with the results.

We shot on green screen so we were looking for consistent, sharp, fast, and to stay within budget of the television show. These were the winner by a long shot and there is no doubt that I would recommend these again and again.

I dont know what sizes were used per shot but if your willing to look, enjoy.
Please keep in mind that there is no color grading, no compositing and no finishing work done to these images they were just pulled stills.
The Show is The Supersportlets a Kids show.
Shot in Hollywood, edited in woodland hills, composited in various countries, distributed world wide.

The final images and results of the TV show are absolutely amazing.
All the best of luck with your future RPP and EPIC

Thanks Luis for sharing the images.

I guess in an ideal world, and one where money was no object, I would go with some Master primes and some new Leica lens, (and maybe I will one day!), but reality is that, when getting a full Epic-X kit, budget does play a part. I have heard great things about the RPP and I guess for the price, they are very good indeed, considering they are T1.8 which makes them very good. Obviously not as fast as MP T1.3 but hey!

The images you shared are great and looking really sharp.

My thinking is that I will go for the Red Pro 17-50 T2.9 to start with and go from there. I guess I'll have to play the game to see when the new Red Electronic Lens come out. I am excited for these lenses as they should work well with the auto-focus / focus tracking on the Epic touchscreen, where I do not believe the current Red lenses will (someone from Red can correct me if this is wrong, please).

Hey Steve,

I'll try to get some stills up in the next few days.

BTW, I'd probably go for a BT 18-85 Red zoom, if I was going in that direction. That extra range would be extremely helpful.

Just to bump my original (implied) question: What sizes would fellow RPP users like to see next? Again, I vote for a 150mm and a 65mm.

A long while back, Jarred or Jim mentioned a 16/14mm wide. Not sure that's even happening anymore though.

yes to 65 and yes to 150

I'm quite happy with the Duclos 11-16 at the wide end. But a 65mm and 120/135 with macro capability would be very sweet.
