1). How long does the system battery inside the camera last?

2). Can it be changed by the end user or do we have to send the brain to a service facility?

3). If this is an end user replaceable item, what is the sequence?

Is this because your date resets? I've already done this once when I had that problem and you need to send it in to a red facility for them to change. However, I did this and the problem is still there. My date and timecode resets if the camera hasn't been powered for a few days. So I'm not sure if red can fix anything by just replacing the battery. Right now I'm a little indecisive whether or not to go through that process again since it fixed nothing and Red never explains this throughout numerous threads on the subject. I'm just hoping that it doesn't lead to irreversible problems that goes beyond warranty and then becomes a very expensive issue to fix.

Thank you for the answer. At this time I don't have such problems. However, in a few months I may have to send two separate teams with camera gear into thick jungles of Asia and Amazonian region. Given the logistics and difficulty of being there, I don't want those guys to have equipment failures. Trying to cover up all my bases. I did not realize changing a system battery is such an issue this day and age. Oh well......

Yeah, it's a pain. I don't know why it's mounted on the board, but I'll guess that we'll see an update on that in the next body upgrade in the future.

Im guessing it dies if you dont use camera much, internal battery does not get charged and goes dead / can not take a recharge. Possibly red can confirm but it seams logic that the internal battery takes charge when camera is feed with power and like a lot of batteries it breaks if going completely flat. So my theory is that it works like a motorcycle battery or such that needs storage charge to work if not used often.
