  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Renders from QT wrappers VS. REDCINE

Hmmm... thanks Mark.
What's the difference between "Preserve source" and "709". (and or in other news this explains alot!!!)

Ian

yeah ... you gotta love the conclusive answers from Apple Support -

but I have had compressor "default" to the wrong color space before - so, default will not always get you the same result as "preserve source" -

So you can get a full resoloution (High 2k) from a wrapper but the de-bayer is still not the best.
De-Bayer in wrappers are Medium or High quality but not "full quality"

Best debayer (full quality) + any rez (1080/2k/4k)needs exporting from RC or RA

My understanding was that when rendering to say Pro Res - you get best quality debayer as well as of course the full 2k resolution. Just not in RT playback - only in render. You still have the problem that Pro Res is 4:2:2.

Can anyone from RED clear up this last little point?
Thanks - Dylan

Currently there is no debayer in the Quicktime codec. It uses "extraction" methods which are fast and simple. We will be putting in full debayers and high quality extractions though.

What Graeme said plus... When you set FCP to floating point mode, is pulls floating point from the codec also.
