RELEASED: RED Final Cut Studio 2 Installer

Final Cut Studio 2 Update

Final Cut Studio 2 Update

I was excited to see this, but then concerned...
The last item in the description says supports up to Build 16.
Aren't we all suppose to be on 17 by now?
I am.
Will it still work, or do we have to wait for v1.1?

WOOOOOOOOO... ....OOOOOW FCP to Color R3d to FCP works and changes everything.

What a couple of weeks in Red! what kind of food eats Red people? ... ET proteins?
Red team must have a deal with satan.

Thanks, many thanks.

I am using B17 just fine. Sanjin is reporting that B18 beta works fine too..

Richard,

B18 rocks on both Mac Book Pro and 8 core 3Ghz Mac Pro.

Creating offline ProRes files (for ex. in RedRushes) is NOT COMPATIBLE with this online workflow! The reel name format is different between the REDCODE L&T plugin and RedRushes.

As well, batching via RedRushes, importing to FCP, media managing and attempting to Batch Capture brings up the Log & Capture window, not the Log & Transfer window... so Final Cut has no idea that you're trying to reconnect to a file-based camera mag.

There is a very easy work around for this thanks to Clipfinder.

Export XML of edit using Red Rushes media
Import XML to Clipfinder, replace mov with R3D
Copy selected R3D to new folder
Use Log and transfer to wrap selects in folder
reconnect offline sequence to new wrapped media
ignore warning abut reel name file name, if time code matches your gold

Anyone else having issues with 4kHD files? They come in as 1920x1080 and look great, but can't get realtime playback. When changing between low, medium, and high video quality, it appears to just stay at high quality....bug? I have a shoot coming up, music video, need to know if I should shoot 4K 16:9, 4KHD 16:9, or 4K 2:1. Thanks!

I had a few clips at 4K 16:9 that came in as 2048x1152 (originally 4096x2304). So now I will shoot at 4K 2:1. I'm getting decent playback. What system are you on?

Guys - anyone - please, anyone - anyone know the answer to my query about colourspace?

I can play back 4K 16:9 no problem, it's 4KHD 16:9 I'm having the issue with. I'm using a Mac Pro 8-core 2.8GHZ with 4gigs of ram. Can you try shooting 4KHD on build 17 and test? Thanks! Files are also running off of a Raid 0 config. (Also, the 4KHD files were recorded in MAX mode, all other footage I have tried that worked, 2k 16:9 and 4k 16:9, came from build 16.)

I can't import anything in the log and transfer window???

Help, I want to try this so bad.

Emmanuel

Emmanuel,

You need to have the latest FCP update installed.
You need to follow the steps outlined in RED's white paper.
You must be dragging an entire directory containing one or more .RDC directories, dragging a single .RDC directory does not work, nor does dragging an .R3D file work.

Cheers,
Hans
