  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: Beta ROCKETcine-X (Build 566)

Hi Jim,

The clips I'm processing I don't think even touch the 90min mark, well as far as I remember, it hits 23,000 frames, the other is a 90 frame clip... Smallest clip in the pack and it has an issue with it,
I've just noticed that I was wrong and it had the same issue on the 4444 codec also...

Thanks though, glad at least someone else shares this issue haha,

Imran

Hi Imran,

Can you email me? I'd like to get a test version to you and some more details.

Not to hassle but are we getting any closer to RocketCine-X doing 2:1, BITC etc. or are we now waiting for RedCine-X to address all that stuff? Seems I've been away from this forum a week and all is quiet. What did I miss?

Timecode is not in the firmware yet. That is currently underway.

I'm not sure what you mean by 2:1. Did you mean Anamorphic?

I was under the impression that the current build only worked with 16:9 clips and not 2:1(?) Could be mistaken, it wouldn't be the first time. All our machines are busy on projects and I'm frustrated at not being able to properly test the Rockets. Tried rendering a project a week ago and got errors but didn't get the chance to fully investigate. Needed to get the job out and hand over the machine, dammit!

I guess my question was also hinting at, will RocketCine-X continue to to be developed or will it just be swallowed up by RedCine-X in due course? Would make a lot of sense to have less apps that do more.

2:1 works fine here... Has since the beginning..

There's still other little quirks and bugs, I haven't had a chance to give the Rocket a workout for about a week now though.

An new build almost ready to go out which has been through alot of updates and bug fixes. (almost a 100 builds since the last release)

I thought you meant 2:1 anamorphic so we just added the anamorphic desqueeze for the display (not for release about to happen though).

Are there any plans for other applications being able to use the rocket? e.g. redline so we can use redrushes, clipfinder, monkey extract etc?

The SDK has already been released which lets other apps use Rocket.
We're also planning on releasing REDline with rocket support. No REDrushes with rocket support as rocketcine is hybrid of redrushes and redalert.

Having so many problems with rocketcine at the moment. It crashes the computer every ten clips or so and quite a few quicktimes don't render properly.

OK, thanks Jeff, must've been something else it didn't like about my footage. Maybe it was my composition:smile5:

OK, cool. Thanks Deanan. Answers both my questions. Can't wait for the update.

Please send me an email (deanan at red) so we can help figure out what's causing you problems.
