ROCKETcine-X (Build 440) has been posted on www.red.com/support .

SUMMARY: The RED Alert!/RED Rushes-like application designed specifically for RED Rocket. Playback and grading realtime. Renders in background.

Note: Install new driver for RED Rocket (v1.0.4) in install file before installing ROCKETcine-X.

Thanks, BC

This is so big.

I'm going to show this on Aug. 18th at Apple Store Ginza celebrating the first RED ONE Central workshop.

Hey Brent
I was going to try to play around with ROCKETcine-X just to see what was up with the new software, but it gave me the message about not being able to open with a ROCKET Card. Is this a permanent limitation, or will ROCKETcine-X be available to everyone sometime down the road?
Peace,

-Harry

Without a RED Rocket, right? I don't know if there is a plan to release a version that does not require the card...

this is awesome. it really is just a tease though when you try to imagine REDcine-X in a month or so from now. I really hope that this time around REDcine-X is the new standard, rather than the old way of many using Red Rushes to process.

As much as I am loving ROCKETcine-X right now, i am lickin' my chops to get at REDcine-X

I am a bit confused, so ROCKETcine-X will only work with a RED Rocket, and for us that still don't have one it does not work, and we have to wait for REDcine-X which will not need the RED Rocket? Is this correct?

While we are on it: Any chance to make the Codec/Export drop-down Quicktime-conform ?

Maybe somebody likes XDcam codec, Sheervideo, DVCpro or one bought a Sorenson Pro version codec, so he could drive that file directly out of the RR - like with FCP, QT player, Compressor or every other QT system conform programmed app that offers every available QT codec and option.
Then also, RED wouldn't have to include the Avid-Codec every time and it couldn't happen the ProRes codec is missing (like now: one is choosing the ProRes Codec but REDrushes is effectively rendering without, because FCS is not installed on the machine, e.g. when it is new; If RR would use the system/QT dialogue, ProRes wouldn't show up if it wasn't installed).

Ohhh mayen.... All I gotta say... ????????

Naming conventions, rendering 1920x1080 from 4k issues

How do I get ROCKETCINE to name the render the same name as the R3D file?

When I do a render from 4k to 2k it's all fine, if I render from 4k to 1920x1080 I have various problems with the render. I wonder if it's my host computer which I'm told does the ProRes rendering, it's last years 8 core with 8gb ram.

Tomorrow I'll try shooting quadHD and see if that renders to 1920x1080 easier.

Is there a manual somewhere?

Can I add to the batch more then one file at a time?

Thanks, Keith

The export section will be changing over the next build or two to make it more intuitive.

Send me an email and I'll try and replicate what you're doing here.

I'm assuming that lots will be changing over the next few builds, but would really like the interface to save it's configuration when we move things around. If I jump to full screen and then back, everything reverts to default position too.

The other thing that would be real useful, perhaps this is more the territory of REDCINE-X, but when in full screen mode, it would be great if we could pop up curve and adjustment sliders as a floating panel or have it drop in from the side of the screen, possibly by a mouse gesture.

When after editing and trying to match back to the original r3d files if the names are different then there's no match back.

Rocketcine doesn't seem to know what to name the files I'm exporting, it would be nice if it automatically named the file for you rather then having to type in A001_C015_0728CX etc. by hand for every clip I'm exporting.

If I export more then a few files that over fill the batch window the program fails, it can't even scroll, it's okay to do a couple at a time as long as you don't overflow the batch window.

Any particular reason for making this a ROCKET-only app? That'll be the best way to use it, obviously, but for training, portable uses, etc. etc...... it'd be nice to not have to have a different RED app for every situation.

Consolidating RedAlert and RedRushes into ROCKETcine for everyone seems like a smart move for support, development time, and clarity for the end-user.

Just not enough time to add the software path fully yet. Everything is tuned for rocket at the moment.
