  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: BETA RED ONE FIRMWARE (v3.4.1)

1:1 magnify

1:1 magnify

in 1:1 image zoom I´m seeing a 720 crop of the sensor image on the lcd, right? Regardless if I´m in 2K, 3K or 4K?

Correct

Am I seeing a different crop on the EVF?

No that's the same view - the central 1280 x 720 pixels of the sensor.

If you remove the CF MODULE side panel and the version number of the CF reader/writer has a label on it stating rev 2.1 or higher, it is 16 GB CF CARD compatible.

Yikes. Taking the camera apart is not going to go over very well in the rental house prep bay. I was kind of hoping for a sticker or something on the bottom of the camera.

well ... If removing 4 screws to look under a plate/cover scares the folks in your rental house bay you have much bigger things to worry about.

It's about the same as "opening you MacBook" to put a new battery in.

1:1 magnify etc

1:1 magnify etc

We appreciate the kind comments about adding 1:1 magnify. And ongoing feedback about other potential improvements.

Some of these ideas may turn out to be difficult to implement, or may not be doable.

However please keep the ideas flowing, we all benefit from the shared experiences.

Stuart, what is the usage of battery cycle info ?

Batteries do not last forever. Typically, Lithium Ion cells only last for about 300 cycles before they start to dramatically lose performance.

I have not installed the new build yet, but is there any way to view 1:1 while recording? I know I can not currently access this with current build.

1:1 is a serious improvement over 2:1 for sight focusing RED One.

Yep. I'd have to argue 1:1 is now the best way to set a mark. Tape, by definition, can not be more accurate. 1:1 is also terrific for collimation.

This is a great addition. Thanks to the guys at RED for continuing to pursue it.

now let us change edge focus assist colors and intensity too :-)

I Love this guide programe for action, sometimes i have to shoot in 1:4 voor special events and now i can see the actionframe as well in 1:4. Very happy that you can customize your framing. Good Job people of Red !! Thanks

Can we have our new CF modules and new 16gig CF cards shipped so we can install them ourselves instead of waiting for our upgrade number to come up?

I was told this would be possible. If you are up for delivery on your 16GB CF cards, Red should be offering you this possibilty.

Cheers,
Damien

Yeah, they already said they would ship the new CF module with 16g card orders if your number hasn't come up yet.

Yes. Many of us kicked an screamed ... and they listened.

KILLER feature - huge thanks to the Red Team for doing this.

Yup...since RED One was first announced in 2005 I've been suggesting 1:1 image magnification for the camera, here on RED User multiple times, and elsewhere. Others here have also requested it. RED does listen to their customers...thanks for that RED!

1:1 is a serious improvement over 2:1 for sight focusing RED One. Those who work in certain genres and styles that call for sight focusing will benefit greatly from 1:1 image magnification.

Thanks again for taking suggestions from your customers RED. Obviously for various good reasons all suggestions can't be incorporated in the camera, but key upgrades like the ones in this firmware update make life much easier for those of us out there on the front lines making a living generating images. Thanks RED...

Gibby, thanks for keeping that suggestion at the forefront of all your feedback.

Glad we could finally get it done for y'all. :red_bandana:
