RELEASED: BETA RED ONE FIRMWARE (v3.4.1)

Gil_01.jpg

GIL, 11 years old boy, shot on RED, Canon 50mm FD L f/1.2 @ wide open f/1.2 with IMS for RED, ASA 320, K 3200, shutter1/48.
Lighting: an ordinary neon tube from the celling, processed in RA, no CC.

And we've finally got it!

The 1:1 magnification.

What a wonderful 1:1 world.

Even for the rest of us or the beggars with a still photo lenses the life becomes easy by now.

Thanks RED Team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes - see above

Power the camera up. Then press UNDO and Joystick at same time.

You should see something like this -

PIN ABC-123-XYZ
VER v3.4.1. B17
HRS 204 CYC 20

HRS is the hours powered up to date

Hi Stuart,

first of all - and this to the entire RED team - congratulations on the new build. Special thanks - has been mentioned many times now - for the 1:1 zoom. Can't wait to upgrade our camera and check it out. Sounds like we should release our small new device now :) To whom in person do I have to send a beer now?

Stuart, so back to the above cite:

Does the battery hour meter tell us on already in use batteries how many times they had been used so far?
Can we be confident about the information presented this way to reflect the real amount of running hours and load cycles?
Or will just start counting from the day we upgrade the camera to this build, or get the upgrade for the charger firmware (as it has been announced recently)?

Any infos highly appreciated!

Cheers,
Axel

Does the battery hour meter tell us on already in use batteries how many times they had been used so far?

Yes it does, its charge cycles though. The hours meter is camera operation.

Can we be confident about the information presented this way to reflect the real amount of running hours and load cycles?

Yes this is data the battery and camera have been logging since day one.

Or will just start counting from the day we upgrade the camera to this build, or get the upgrade for the charger firmware

No its independent of charger or camera builds - you just need to upgrade the camera to this build to read and display the data.

A huge THANK YOU for the 1:1 focusing magnification!
Finally I can order 16GB CF cards
But did I understand this correctly, we are going to physically upgrade the CF modules? Please confirm.

Yes this is data the battery and camera have been logging since day one.
Hmmm, I wonder what else the camera's been doing behind our backs... :detective2:

Colored Bar indicator.

Colored Bar indicator.

What does the color bar left of the traffic lights represent?

Its an exposure meter that is looking at the RAW sensor data rather than RGB processed data.

At ASA 320, try turning on the False Color meter - it will correlates pretty closely with the false colors seen in the video.

Then as you increase ASA you will see the RGB domain meters - False Color, Histogram and Traffic Lights - all indicate clipping before this sensor RAW data meter does.

This is because you are "pushing" the monitor path and buying some RAW data highlight protection in the process.

Build 17.....Nice...very Nice !!

Thanks Red team!

Dave

Thank you so much for adding gain options on the line inputs. Now the audio department can fawn over the camera like everyone else does on set.

Spelling

Spelling

Feature request:

That the spelling mistakes are removed from the formatting status displays. Unless build 17 the the build that no longer tells me my "magzine" is ready for use?

Yes, fixed already :calm:

1:1 brilliant !
-A

This is may be a stupid question:
So in 1:1 image zoom I´m seeing a 720 crop of the sensor image on the lcd, right? Regardless if I´m in 2K, 3K or 4K?
Am I seeing a different crop on the EVF?
(Sorry, camera not here at the moment)

Cheers,

Jochen

1:1 while recording?

1:1 while recording?

Haven't installed yet, but is 1:1 available while recording?

thanks guys - great work.

Keith

Magnification is now no longer available during playback, which is a shame as I often found that useful. Can I put in a request to have that one back? But if losing it is a necessary trade-off to get 1:1, then it's one I'm happy with.

edit: I just tried to do a black balance without formatting the cf card and the camera said:

CALIBRATION FAILED
Not quite sure what you should do.

Pretty hilarious.

I got this too and found it hilarious. For the Release Build you might want to change it to "Please try reformatting your media"
