Do you know how to update to the beta software if you bought your Studio license through Apple store?...
Is it even possible?

From what I've read online, and looking at the Mac App Store's Resolve Studio Version history, they don't make the Resolve Beta versions available for download, only the full version updates.

Also seems there's no compatibility between the Mac App Store version and the Mac OS ones available for download from the Blackmagic site, as they require different kinds of authetification to activate.

Looks like the Mac App Store version does get updated with the full Resolve Studio versions on a regular basis though, so it would just be a matter of waiting.

V.18.6.6 released on 20 March '24 was the latest version. If they're up to Public Beta 5, four months later, the next full version might not be that far away.

If you're working on real projects it might be worth waiting as the projects opened in 19 have to be converted, then they aren't compatible with 18 (if you have to go back down).

I'm having mostly good luck, but there's still an issue with the speed editor adding clips as multicam, which is a nightmare for color grading as it won't allow for the Raw adjustments as it's not a single clip (even though I'm not doing multicam)

Tried to go back to 18 but the projects were all updated, so I'm just not using the speed editor for a while...

I've been using the DAVINCI RESOLVE STUDIO Dongle for years. I've never used Davinci Resolve either on a Mac of from the APPLE STORE so I don't know what the limitations are for that particular product. Plus below is a Tutorial on how to run two different versions of RESOLVE on the same computer. In this case, Resolve 18 and 19.

Well I didn't buy the dongle version to get it fast on my computer, but didn't know the limitation (access to Beta Versions) doing so...

I wonder if Blackmagic offers a path to their Cloud license from a license bought at Apple store ?
