  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Release Camera Build 3.2.16

Power management is coming along.. high priority. You will see little small steps instead of one big step as builds go along.

Awesome... the camera I bought is not.

Thanks Jarred, I hope a stand by power mode is tops next build. This will go a long way for a lot of us.

Awesome! Will switch. Any chance on a new Beta soon with some exploratory features?

Does the Sidehandle still need to be removed prior to force_upgrade?

I sort of do it by default... but can't see it mentioned.

Hey Jarred,
Great thread and thanks for the free firmware updates, RED always delivers.
I do have a question, is the 1K HD 720p or 1080p at 120fps?
Thanks for your time

I got black and white screen during my first bootup after installing :(

Another thing I noticed: The readme file says that update will take approx 45 sec. Mine usually takes max. 10 sec. But firmware version shows the latest version. Don't know if this matters.

I too get this on my epic-x (black and white split screen)... My epic-m that just got returned from the x upgrade loads it fine.... Weird. Rolled back because I couldn't get it to function properly.

I think my Scarlet loads it fine too. Doesn't look like there are any problems when upgrading. It's just that it takes 10 seconds, which definently doesn't sound like 45 seconds. The fan acts upp and goes full power and all, just like it is explained in the readme, so probably it's ok. This probably hasnt' anything to do about anything. :)

But WHITE or B&W screen startup on every other startup doesn't sound ok to me.

I've red through the 8 pages of responses to this upgrade. But haven't seen anyone mentioning a fix to the B&W error on bootup. Anyone?

I asked my Bomb Squad rep about that.

I was told:
1. Alwasys follow the "Read Me" instructions.
2. If the "read Me" instructions do not say to remove the handle or other powered accessories then it is not necessary.
3. However, it is good practice to remove as many perifferals as possible, even if the instructions don't say so. Removing them apparently reduces the load on the camera during the upgrade.

It's like wearing your seat belt on an airplane, even when the sign is off. It's a good practice.

No need to worry if the upgrade doesn't take as long as the read me says it will. There really is no way for a camera to "partially" upgrade.

Awesome build! Thanks guys!

I am also wondering about the Phantom Power though. Do some cameras require hardware upgrading to get Phantom to work?

What is the issue with the split screen effect that some are reporting? Anyway to avoid it? I am on the beta version of this build and it is working well so I am a bit reluctant to move forward until this is resolved.
