  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Reel from my first feature!

Overall I would give you two thumbs up.

The music was tiresome, but I cannot hold you accountable for it. It's just a matter of taste. I understand you reason for using shorter focal lengths, but I don't think it worked. Using shorter lenses makes the film look like locations and budgets were constrained. Wide-angles are basically a cheap workaround for shooting in tight spaces. Looking at it on a computer monitor is distracting enough, never mind a big cinema screen. If you're going to use wides, don't make it obvious IMHO. If I were to see the film I might have a different opinion.

Shots with shorter focal lengths can give presence to the action, but it's a fine line. The opening shots in Pulp Fiction may have been filmed with shorter lenses (though I still haven't seen the complete film!).

Great job, Kelly! I really love your subtle approach. It all looks very natural while the camera movements and compositions seem to be meticulously crafted and executed. Considering that the film is a psychological drama, I love that you mainly used wide lenses. One can definitely see what deliberate choices in the cinematography were made in order to support the story. Again, fantastic work!

Hopefully your opinion will change if you see the film! Our locations were actually quite good, so it was definitely a conscious choice rather than a workaround.

Also, holy crap you have to see Pulp Fiction!
