  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedWideGamutRGB: discuss!

Hello all,

We have created REDWideGamutRGB Log3G10 conversion LUTs into Rec.709, P3 and Rec.2020. Would that be something of an interest to public? If there's demand, we could release them to be freely publicly available.

Thank you.

Goran from Lutify.me

YES!

Just to avoid confusion, does freely available mean available for a price or available for free?

I think it is a good idea for the moment but things might change, as all of this is in a developmental stage, so you (and people using these LUTs) would have to understand that any new release of the underlying RED stuff would render these LUTs obsolete and probably offer less than desirable results.

Lutify.me has been awesome to work with- ultra interested and responsive to Red users needs, in my short experience. Thanks Goran!

It would be very welcome. Until we have a Red-developed LUT that's official, a really good third party LUT for rec.709 would be optimal. That's where most jobs go at this moment.

David you're absolutely right even though I don't think the math will change in future. The way it looks to me, REDWideGamutRGB and Log3G10 look pretty finalised. If the math changes however, we will update the LUTs accordingly.

I will wait just a bit with releasing these LUTs as stable REDCine-X that supports RWG and Log3G10 hasn't been release yet. In case there's any last minute change, I'll want to make sure LUTs are compatible.

This thread has been a great read.
Graeme take your time! This is a to big development for the RED users to stress and rush for some impatient folks (like me).

The current RCXP beta works fine and the cube lut format will not really change. So why not share them now? just name them "for_rcxpbeta XX" or such then it's allways possible to make new ones, no?

Curious to see what you made.

REDWideGamut is working well. Thanks to all those who are testing it. I'm propogating a small change to Log3G10, so once that's out, it'll be safe to build LUTs on top of it.

Goran , i try your lut conversion to 709 .
I find it a little too saturated, I'm doing something wrong?(on Davinci)

Did Goran give out his LUT? The video I poster a few pages back used Tommasos LUT but that's mapping it to RG4, where did you get Gorans LUT? :)

Luigi what are your color management settings in Davinci?

Hey Christoffer,

The LUT is available in our packages we offer over at lutify.me. However, as Graeme said, he's going to propagate a small change to the Log3G10 and than everything should be on the same page.

Goran

Luigi thank you! Because of you I just noticed a small issue with the LUT. Totally my bad. I'm making a change now and it should be available soon.
