  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedVoltXL Single Module

I didn't take a pic, but it is a very simple module that houses an XL redvolt or 2 regular redvolts in a traditional rear facing orientation.

Cool, but possible to dock the Redmote when using this one?

Did you see anything else there that has not been announced?

Don't think so, but that's not the point of it. Many folks like myself don't use the Redmote and would welcome the ability to have longer runtime in a smaller package.

Back at the booth so a couple more details. There's only one set of contacts so XL only. Also the camera connection is V-Lock so you would need some version of a quick back setup to connect.

So it doesn't attach like s regular module?

Phil has another picture in his NAB summary thread.

This is all part of the quick plate plan. All sorts of pieces for that system are finally turning up. As is the shoulder mount. Jarred shared pics of that piece ages ago. :)

What I'm missing in the picture is the cable to connect to the camera. I assume this works like the v mount quick plate with a power cable !?
EDIT: or did I misunderstand something ?

I think I see where this module is going. It will attach to the new Backpack Quickplate. This way, you'll have the option to use either the Redvolt XLs or a V mount battery. OK, I get it. Still wish there was no cable, a la the quad module. Why can't we have that too?

Yeah I hope someday they will make a true Single XL Battery module as well as a V-Mount module just as it is with the Dual, Quad and Meizler without the cables.

I asked that same question to the RED guys at the booth. The unit on display was just a prototype so things may change, but they said the idea behind that port is it will eventually function as a battery charger input as well.
