  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDVOLT + REDVOLT travel charger

By the way, here is another way I came up with for using the OUTRIGGER Handle (and View Factor FMJ). It allows you to get much closer to the focus / zoom / iris rings and also does not require long screws that are needed in the stackable Touchscreen / OUTRIGGER config. Works pretty damn well.

The First small batch of chargers have come in.. first 100 or so Epic-M customers should be receiving Charger + 4 REDVOLT batteries this week :)

Awesome!!!!! Great news!!!

Hi Jarred

In the future is there anyway you will be able to rear mount redvolt batteries without the side handle? IE Like the red bricks?

as having so much weight distributed to one side will make it very hard to balance the EPIC on a steadicam.

I will add more to this and other forums when my Epic M turns up shortly, but I am trying to make find configurations to mount the EPIC on my ARCHER 2 steadicam sled.

Biggest one I can see so far is using a Zeiss LWZ2, due to the fact that the lens is heavier than the camera and the centre of gravity point will be on the lens rather than the camera
hence the question.

Adam, I'm pretty sure there is a REDVolt module what will attach to the camera, with two REDVolts either side

This picture shows it.

Hey that D-Tap plate is exactly what I am after! Hopefully a RED BRICK can mount on the back of that, as that would fix 90% of my steadicam mounting issues.

Jarred hurry up and make it!!!!

A couple of battery geek questions if anyone will indulge me? ( I fly RC planes powered by lithium cells running to several kilowatts, so its a subject I've invested plenty of time into...)

What capacity are the Redvolts in mah? What's the charge rate of the travel charger? One of my bugbears with chargers for video applications has always been the often rather 'dumb' charging technology and low C rates resulting in painful charge times relative to the performance potential of the cells.
Have you gone the smart battery/dumb charger and device route? Or is this a smart charger/dumb battery methodology to save weight and complexity per battery unit?

FYI epic 714 did get the batteries last week...redvolts pumped out fast!
i love them, whish i could order another 4 and the quadcharger now..thats how great they are.

Could someone share pics of a Redvolt mounted on an Epic-M, please? If it's not done already...

First pic is of Jarred, showing off his camera at the April '10 RED Day Party...

Second is of EPIC-M #0008 this past February...

The battery design is the same, while the SideHandle has changed slightly between the two dates of the pictures. Hope that helps!

For you guys that own Epic-M's... it will change your life :)
I agree...being able to handhold the camera without a brick tethered to the back is going to change everything. Cant wait! I hope Epic-M #98 is in the first batch :)

Ahhh, ok. I thought he was referring to being able to turn the camera on....
