  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Please do something about the greyscale and colors you use. Surely it should not be so very hard to read the emails and directions.
I headed this first under complaints and found I was not alone on this problem.

Thanks for the hard work. All these fancy web-page things I don't know how to do... cool. :)

I really like the navigation buttons on the page numbers! I've wanted those for a long time.
It is great how if you do a simple Quote now the text box opens up below that person's post, leaving the subsequent posts below it.
I like the textured bars and I wouldn't lose them, but they may benefit from some company. Perhaps the User Info boxes?
The color theme might need a little tweaking here and there, but I am sure it will look great once you are finished.
One thing that is hard to see now is the "RED TEAM" buttons you guys recently added.
The REPORT, QUOTE and REPLY buttons got a bit small for my personal taste, but I might be aging. ;)

I like the look of the new site. I always welcome a change, even if I fear it, it shakes things up a bit.

My only comment thus far would be to second those who have said that the new "RED TEAM" button is hard to read on the team member post because the color is so similar to the background. If you know its there its not too bad, but if you aren't aware of that feature it could easily pass you by.
 
Missing the "Red Team" buttons... one of my favourite new features :)

Also - I'd make a vote for the default post font size to be a point or two larger... text gets pretty tiny on a 30" screen.
 
Also noticed - searching for posts only goes back to 2009 (June 22nd) except for posts since the reboot. Tried it for Jim & Jarred.

The site is definitely a lot snappier though... nice work!
 
Agree search is broken; I always check what Jim had to say in the wee small hours when I get up. This morning, search claims he has had nothing to say since 06-23-2009...

I personally find the new site MUCH HARDER to read. Sorry, just being honest.
It just feels very very crowded - the older version (which I prefer by far) was much more "airy", very easy to read - a pleasure.
Not anymore, unfortunately.
 
Search hasnt fully indexed yet it takes a ton of hours of down time to index so its only about 30% complete.. will do the rest of it tonight when everyone is sleeping.
 
yes.. its too dark. we will fix.
 
Perhaps the top red bar (the one with "Thread Tools") and the top bar (the one with the RedUser logo) would benefit from a slightly darker/different shade of Red, to differentiate them from the posts?
The shade of gray on the Reply Boxes feels a tad too bright for me. I love how it is clearly defined, but I think it might still work with a very slightly darker tone.

This is not a ease of navigation thing, but the "Posting Permissions" box at the bottom not being full with or centered is throwing me off a bit.

Love how the smiley sizes were standardized, but perhaps the size should be a tad bigger? This is arguably the most important part of the whole forum! :w00t:
He he, but yea, that would make it easier to pick the right one. Some have become hard to discern.

I agree. But it takes a bunch of little tweaks to get the look dialed it. Give them a day or two and I am sure they will nail it. After all, they probably spend more time here than all of us combined so they want it to be easy to surf more than we do. :)

Feature Request: "Next Page" button. And make it big. hitting those itsy bitsy page numbers on a phone is one of the harder parts of navigating REDUser. On my computer I have a Chrome plugin for advancing through pages but a built in option would be welcome.

I agree. Even browsing on my computer the 'next page' button is a little small. Pretty good look overall though, I can't wait to see it once everything is 100%.

Any more info on the store update?
 
Whats new is just a shortcut.. pretty much the same thing.
