Slow down boys... no it doesn't exist YET but if we beg Jarred maybe one of those big brains in Lake Forest will cook something up.

So how bout it Jarred? I know you guys must be checking reduser constantly on your iphones. Kinda a pain. I would loooove a sweet dedicated app.

Is the content of Reduser.net stored in a MySQL database?

Yeah dude, I check RedUser more than anything on my phone. Let's get an APP!! (although I'd rather they use their resources to make awesome cameras first)

I would love a reduser app for iphone. Can't anyone create it though?

Without being a dev myself I assume anyone could build an app that would scrape reduser for data but it would be nicer if Jarred blessed whoever wanted to make one to give them direct access to the DB.

couldn't someone in the mean time with programming experience just do what most web apps do and create a duplicate version of the site and have it update periodically (perhaps upon opening the app) and then once blessed then a full working version can be made?

Although i guess that idea would be rather stupid since you can just put the page marker as an app like thing on your iPhone page can't you? hmmm...

What would the Reduser app be like?

have anyone tested with with RedUser?
Or are you suggesting this could be used to develop an ap?

Hey Mike,
Namely the latter . Yeah it doesn't work yet the forum would need to be registered with this specific application (see link )if worse comes to worst ill hassle Jarred about it ;)but i dont think RED like security risks . There are a few other vbulletin related apps im yet to try but ill let you know if i have any luck .in the mean time i use an RSS app but have only had luck with Recon ...the general reduser.net forum rss doesnt seem to work anymore :(

Okay this isnt an iphone app, but its pretty close. All you need is an RSS reader on your iPhone and plug the following in:

http://www.red.com/rss/recon

Viola. You get instant feed of the Recon section. Useful for the 30th. Theres another RSS feed which gives you the latest forum postings, but it seems to be down since the crash of August or whenever it was. But start with Crack first.

Would be awesome. Surfing the forum now on iPhone is a pain.

Okay figured out the RSS feed for the rest of the forum:

Main forum:
http://reduser.net/forum/external.php?type=rss2

Offtopic:
http://reduser.net/forum/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=8

Red One General:
http://reduser.net/forum/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=4

Just replace the number in the URL at the end with the forum ID (You'll see it up the top when you click on the particular subforum). Plug that in your RSS reader for a mobile dosage of reduser goodness.

A nice workaround but nothing like having a native app. How bout it Jarred? I know you guys would love to have one for yourselves.

Hey Ace,
I tried the links you posted and it works. Is there any way to see more posts than the first person that started the post or is that because of the app I am using on my phone "Pro RSS"?

RSS Feeds are like news tickers. They feed you the headlines but you do need to click through to see the thread I believe.

BUT, there is a way to see the latest posts instead of the first post in a thread. That way you're recieving the latests posts in each thread in real time.

Simply add the following to the end of any of the RSS URL's:

&lastpost=true

So,

http://reduser.net/forum/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=4&lastpost=true
