  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDucation

there is only one problem with REDucation. that it ends. the week spent there is so awesome that when it ends, it is a little disappointing.

but you do leave with the feeling that you can do anything with a RED, from shooting to post workflow. i found most students left with a level of excitement and a desire to go back home and put all the new knowledge to use. meeting other 'REDheads' and hanging out for a week sharing battle stories and good company is hands down the best thing about the program to me.

The audio was a bit off, but other than that everything was awesome and informative! :yesnod:

Here's the link to the webcast...

and if you signed up to listen to the webcast when we did it live, you should also be getting an email directly with that link tonight or tomorrow morning.

Hi Joseph, Please tell me how to start a new post. I apologize for asking this question here but since you seemed to be on line I thought of asking you.

I had been searching all over the website but I could not find a link to start a new post, though I am able to tag along an existing post.

Please guide.
Thanks in advance

Congrats...looks like you got it. :)

No, I did not find the tab / button to Create an entirely new Discussion Post. This is just an extension of an already existing post.

I am still searching the website to find that button
I do remember seeing it on the left bottom of the screen once, but never again.

I sent a message to the Reduser help desk but did not get any reply

Ah, Gotchya! The way to do it, is open up a sub-forum such as "off Topic", and while looking at the list of threads, you will see a "New Thread" button (highlighted in the attachment).

Click that, and then create the title and text. Submit reply, and boom you are done!

I imagine they are getting super busy with NAB coming up and all of the new messages regarding M-X upgrade/REDucation/etc

I bet they'll get to ya after a while though. :)

Found that hiding button at last. I dont know for some reason earlier, when I was scrolling down, that was the only TAB I was missing.

Thanks Joseph you are the saviour.

How about uploading the training sessions of the workshop for a fee

I think soon the price for the workshops would be reduced for more enthusiasts to have access and later we may get the DVD formats too. Hopefully!

How about uploading the training sessions of the workshop for a fee

People have requested the same earlier in the game.

2 reasons why I think they won't ever do it...

  • A hands on experience is one that can never come close to a DVD that is watched on your own.
  • With the pace that RED moves with change, they'd be having to make new workshop DVD's constantly.

I'm sure there are a number of reasons that are better than those 2, so once you justify why those 2 reasons aren't good enough...there will be more that are unspoken... :001_cool:

I think people will be more than willing to pay $1000 per DVD set, rather than pay a minimum of $3000 to $4000 for 5 days. Even if it means the DVD has to be updated every year.

One can get all the hands on experience by applying what has been taught in the DVD.

The reason why I said the price of the workshop would reduced is because people in Europe or the Asian countries might prefer a discounted rate and that could reflect here in USA.

Interesting conversation about the DVD discussion - it's a really good idea and there are some good DVDs out there, but as it was pointed out, DVD producing is often a fairly long timeline and therefore needs quick modification. It can often take longer than most of us that live in the fast changing world of R3Ds are used to. That's why I like options like Mike Seymour's FXPHD and things like that because they can be updated much quicker.

In the case of REDucation, I just wanted to clarify that we combine the Production and Post course together-which is not only ideal for people taking the course, but it was pretty much based on the fact that 90% of past REDucation patrons took both courses. The price for both of these halves together is $2,500 US. So when you take REDucation, you are not paying for 2 separate halves of a curriculum, rather it is one price for the entire week.

As Ted has mentioned before, traveling out of Los Angeles is in the works and we know it is necessary. Las Vegas is convenient for a number of people since they already are planning on coming out west for NAB. But we will keep the pressure on for moving about the continents to hopefully bring REDucation to a town near you. Above all, you cannot replicated the hands-on essentials that REDucation brings. We don't just "teach," we "do."

I've said it once and will say it again, REDUCATION is worth every penny (we made it back in spades) and Michael Cioni and Steve Freebairn are fantastic instructors and bring a lot of energy, laughs and tons of CANDY!

You're making it worse for those like me who can't attend. :emote_whack:
