  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDucation

There are a couple of spots left in the December three day class and we have just added a lighting for stills and motion course - details at http://www.red.com/learn/reducation - the December workshops also include 3D and Advanced Post - and there will be more gear than ever at REDucation for that week.

The 2012 schedule will be announced in a few weeks and it looks like we will have stops in LA, NY, Dubai, London and Mumbai over the next twelve months.

Gearing up now for our next REDucation at RED Studios in Hollywood next week.
Students coming in from all over the world, and this time we have not one but two 4k projection systems! One in our theater for our screenings and one in our classroom sound-stage / studio for realtime 4k Red Rocket Dailies.

Our open house is looking to have some good excitement as well. Good comfort food and drink for all, and we will show off Scarlet-X for those that haven't seen one in the flesh, screen the latest EPIC reel in 4k, and may have a surprise screening of some never before seen EPIC footage from a movie shot in some really challenging, very small and claustrophobic real locations. If all goes well, The Director and DP will be here to talk about their experiences on EPIC from this unique project. working out the final details to show this project footage right now.

Looking forward to seeing all our students next week, and the bigger group from the community on our open house night on Dec 7th. The RED Open house event featuring Scarlet X, special presentations from our friends at 3Ality, Assimilate, Autodesk, Adobe, AJA and all kinds of other fun starts at 5pm that Day. here's the link for more info

Dear Ted, Paul Ellington here, loyal Red customer, cinematographer, and MFA Candidate at NYU Film. I would love to request reducation NYU or reducation New York City.

I hope your travels are safe and that the LA event goes smoothly.

Best Paul

I'll be there for Open House. I was at the the RED Studio Hollywood for the SCARLET release, and what was pretty awesome. I can't imagine how cool it is to see the 3D rigs in action.

I will most likely sign up for the next REDucation.

Mad Awesome.

We have a full house at REDucation this week, almost ready to view our 4K footage from day two. Shot some of the class with a Scarlet today and posted a few stills at http://flic.kr/s/aHsjxcKcd6

Tomorrow nights Open House is full and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Brian

I am so sad I am missing this.

Please tell me I don't have to wait until May for the next Reducation..

Please please please make one earlier, It is way too obvious that I as well as a lot of other people on here are gonna go to the next one

I am not complaining nor yelling by the way.. I am begging

Is it possible to take names and see how soon the next Reducation can/should be ?

:001_unsure: Jan ? Feb ? Sooner the better... :leaving:

I imagine the issue is there are logistics that need to be worked out that will usually take longer than a few weeks to iron out.

Purely due to availability, of the venue, of the teaching staff, and of the students themselves.

I would imagine most peoples schedules are plotted out at least a few months ahead of time....... no?

These are all very good points Andrew, and you have a lot of Red cameras

I am just hoping it can be sooner than May and I am sure the class would get filled up

I would even travel within the U.S. to attend..

Mate, if I could go to every class I would, so heres to it being more often!

Me too:wink5:
Wish they were a little less expensive though
I am sure they are worth it, just wishing and hoping
And hopefully the next one splits up the lighting and editing on different days

Was a really solid 3 Day REDucation class - students were fantastic, very motivated to learn and made our job a pleasure to do the instruction. They shot EPIC, Scarlet and RED ONE, and locked in on getting fantastic images by day 2 of the class, which we screened in 4k in our theater, and learned all about Post workflow from super-expert Michael Cioni. Some of the students brought some of the footage from projects they've been working on, for review in 4k which they screened for the class as well - a nice bonus, and something I'm thinking of including as a part of our future classes, since its a pretty nice treat to see your work on such a large screen in 4k.

We had our big open house event last night - it was totally packed, and we screened a lot of RED ONE and EPIC movie trailers, had great presentations and a lot of fun, including screening some Raw EPIC footage from an upcoming movie, shot inside a real submarine - pretty fantastic that the Director / Producer and DP were so thrilled with their EPIC experience on the movie that they were willing to show off Dailies to the very large crowd, and do some grading on the fly using RedCineX Pro feeding out the 5k files to the 4k projector.

I know there is a lot of requests for more of these classes, more locations worldwide, etc. all great motivation for us - Brian and I are looking into our 2012 schedule and some interesting plans we have... more to come :-)
