  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RedMote Wireless

I'd like to revive this discussion. No joy EVER on my Redmote wirelessly. Very sad...
Actually no joy is an exaggeration, but it's very squirrely.
Red Team, any update?
Cheers,
Harry

Yes.
And it's often OK when wireless. Just not always ;)

I also hope for an improvement on the Redmote. First the problem of it disconnecting and it being fairly hard to get it to connect in the first place (I have two epics and two redmotes, both are the same), but also it´s GUI which I find confusing, would be great to change setting just by looking on the Redmote, and would be great to just put the redmote in hand and use it - intuitively, like with the Epic and the touchscreen (which are near perfect!).

Clients alwasy gets their expectations really high when I pull out the Redmote, sadly I often have to quietly put it aside as it is not thrustworthy (yet - it disconnects all the time)

isn't that the whole point of the REDMote.. to control and setup the camera wirelessly...
I'm sure red are working on fixing this. They must be, surely.
Anyone from red reading this?

We just did a dolly shot where I was watching the field monitor about 40 feet from camera and would start/stop recording via RedMote. It is flakey indeed but I was getting good range in that instance.

using it right now and having no problem keeping a connection at 50+ feet.. I think, like all wireless devices, it highly depends on the area you're shooting in, physical interference as well as radio interference, and then just slight differences between units..
