I was wondering if the Scarlet Fixed Redmote can control the zoom? Early on there was this term, "Fly by wire" as if it was a distinguishing characteristic of Scarlet fixed. Is that just RedMote?

Well, I think that really refers to the fact that Scarlet supports wireless/network control in general - from REDmote, REDmote Pro, WiFi, or Gig-E.

The same things you can control from REDmote can also be controlled over wifi or gige with a simple protocol.

Zoom, focus, and aperture have been confirmed as electronically controlled on the Scarlet, and have been controlled via the side handle by Tonaci Tran over here. Given that, it sounds like Zoom should be able to be mapped to the (+ | -) rocker on the REDmote.

Maybe Mark or someone from REDteam can chime in and tell us how it actually works.

So many accessory references floating around in my consciousness that things get fuzzy, but I think I read somewhere there is a Redmote and Redmote Pro? If that be true, then perhaps the Pro model would better handle that option.

Correction or affirmation heartily welcomed.

This seems to be the case because the REDmote Pro features a large FF-style wheel. This would undoubtedly be well suited to racking zoom.

Damn! another "must have".

As has been pointed out, zoom, focus and aperture are all electronically controlled (at least on the Fixed). Since they can all be controlled by the side handle, I believe (both from inference as well as what has been said in the past) that both REDmotes will perform all of these functions, as well.

Of course, like everyone else, I am just working from whatever information I may have picked up along the way. :thumbup1:
