Hello,

I shot my film in Red Dragon with a gamma space redgamma2.

I exported my vfx shots in DPX in Redlog for the visual artist.

He sent me back the shots with VFX applied but now how can I put back the Redgamma2 in after effects and Davinci Resolve?

Thank you

Pierre

Once you export it to DPX, its not red raw (R3D) anymore, so the Redgamma does not apply.

thank you, but is there a way to re-apply redgamma?

Yes, its called grade your VFX footage to match your 3rd files with with red gamma2.

I don't know how else I can explain this. Redgamma2 is a gamma curve designed to work with RED r3d files. If your source is not r3d then the gamma curve does not work anymore as intended.

Thats why you can't apply it like a LUT.

you mean there is no lut to match a redlog to redgamma? because the workflow with the vfx was done in redlog, so i thought there was a shortcut to make it look back as shot in redgamma

I'm not at home, but have your VFX artist ship over the REDlogFilm to REDGamma2 LUT he/she used in the process of creating the elements.

You can also use the Color Space Transform in Davinci Resolve.

Phil Holland: not sure; i exported in DPX Redlog and sent the DPX to the VFX artist.
