  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCODE 42...

RC 42 in Quad HD would be GREAT.

The answer is yes to Quad HD RC42. The caveat is that REDCODE 42 will not work with 8GB CF cards. It will work with 16GB CF, RED RAM or RED Drives.

It's like as if you where to buy a car, and one day you where to get a post card in the mail saying that next month your car was going to have some new options added.... for free... and oh yeah, and more HORSEPOWER too! The thing is, there is not a single car company (at least that I know of) that does anything like that. THAT, is why I love this company so much!

Uh oh...my pile of 10 Red 8gb CF is my primary shooting medium, bumping those to 16gb would be...$5,000.

Soooo....how about them 16gb for $200 apiece? :-)

If not then I need to get me some more RedRaid.

Hey Jim, what will 4.5 mean for us Anamorphic users...basically what is seen in the surround view can be recorded now?

Not 100% sure on this but I think the new resolution is only the full horizontal resolution of the sensor that will be able to be recorded to, not vertical. What we anamorphic guys would like is more vertical resolution. This solution is nice for shooting more resolution and 2.33/35 using spherical glass.

4.5k 2.33:1 @ RC42!! Will that work on Red 8gb CF and 320gb RedRaid?

Oooh Jim, you are making me think :-). I was going to shoot my flick at 4k 2:1, but this is extremely tempting

Shawn,

Yes, Fantasy Epic...2.33:1 WIDE SCREEN is the only way to go man...

oh my f89king god jim. YESSSSSS!!! RC36 is nice but....OH MAN 42 should just put this bitch over the top!!!

geezzuss man it's like you look at Canon for 5min, get REALLY ripshit over how they do it and then release yet more on the world of your masterpiece! for FREE!!!

god love you.

it's the kid like excitement that I just can't contain. sorry. :)

That's great!

42MB or something different like Scarlet 2/3?

Or Scarlet 2/3 RedCode 42 is the same as RedOne?

REDCODE 42 will be coming in about a month to the RED ONE. It will be available for 4K 2:1 and 4.5K 2.33:1. No charge. An easy firmware upgrade.

Jim

Will material shot on RC42 need a new SDK? Or will the "RedRocket-SDK" support this aswell?I suppose RedCine-X will, but what about the Linux-apps?
