I’ve been quite a bit confused during the last few months of the RCX v50 betas, in that there has been so much talk about how IPP2 works well with older RED footage (MX / Dragon) - offering all of its benefits across the board. Problem is, I haven’t found a way to activate IPP2 for older footage.
It seems that when I setup IPP2 controls in RCX v50, I can get Helium footage to instantly convert to the new controls... but RCX gives me a black screen output and a forever spinning orange loading wheel when opening Dragon / MX footage with the IPP2 controls active. If I change my settings to Legacy controls or to determine the controls based on the way the shot was filmed, the older clips work with Legacy controls.
My question is - how do I get IPP2 controls in RCX for Dragon and MX footage? Am I stuck in Legacy with LUTs / Log3 / RGB Wide? Is there a convert button? Do I need to delete my .rmd files so it can create new ones?
I’d love to move a few current (Dragon) projects over to IPP2 for finishing, and wasn’t sure the proper method to do a preliminary color job in RCX using IPP2. Loving it with my Helium footage !
