  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X total newbie question

Don't aplologise!

Redcine-X is a free app that you can use to look at your r3d's, make quick prrimary grades, proxygrades or onelight grades for colorcorrection.

It also has a lot of advanced features, but it is a good startingpoint for enjoying your raw files...

And it is free!
You can make simple edits, match audio and sync 3D images as well, and if you buy a RedRocket you can have realtime preview in 4k + realtime renders to a number of formats.

Like tha camera it looks like it will be a powerfull tool and really scaleable to many needs.

Enjoy!

another newbie here, expanding on OP's question:

is RED CINE the same software you use for transcoding the files into Pro Res?

thanks

That is one of many uses for RCX.

If you are going offline/online - please remember that you make life easier by keeping the original filenames on the prores files.

Cheers!

I highly recommend downloading Redcine-X, hunt up a couple of short .r3d clips and play around with it. If you ask nicely, some RED shooters here can link you to some.
