  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional...

Is the new 'Pro' title there to mock Apple's abject failures as of late in the pro video market? ;)
 
Hmm. I loaded up a file in RCX-Pro and started to export, and the first clip was reporting a render time of approximately 50 minutes. No adjustments other than a reduction in resolution (approx 3.5k from 4.5k) saved to Pro-Res 422(LT).

I loaded the same file in RCX-Vanilla (build 487), same reduction in resolution and codec, and it said approximately 6 minutes.

Rocket enabled... not sure where the difference is. Thoughts?

Does RC pro support Control surfaces if so what supported ?

The 3D alignment looks interesting not tried it yet. Might there be aspirations for Auto colour and geometry alignment tools ?

Dave,

Currently only the Tangent Wave is enabled in RCX Pro. We're working on an issue that cropped up with the MC Color and will reenable that in a future release.
 
Well, this couldn't come at a better time. I'm starting the grading of a REDCode feature I DP'd and going the cheap route with REDCine and Vegas/AfterEffects. i was bemoaning the lack of a parade display BUT NO MORE!

You're not running both apps at the same time, right? Only one application can utilize the Rocket at the same time (but you would've seen a warning that it wasn't able to open the Rocket).
 
So with the FCP round trip, Is FCP X applying active metadata created in RC Pro or can it/does it need to render out a new media file to which FCP can then link ?

No, not running them at the same time. Sent my email with the logs in this morning. Hope it helps! :)
 
Any word on MC color/avid artist color integration? I am so used to having 5 copy grade functions it will be hard to go back to not using it. Also, if the sensitivity issue of the wheels (the ball operation seems fine for me) then this would really rock and roll. It would also be great to have color temp and tint on the rotary knobs for adjustment as well.

A suggestion (unless it already exists):

Could we have a zoom IN and OUT button for timeline length ?

Doing that at both end of the timeline is tricky...

Am I missing something or is there any way to tweak audio levels in RCXPro? Just playing with some footage where I discovered too late someone who will remain nameless had buggered around with the gain...

GAHHHHH Ive been so busy working on EPIC shoots this week, I forgot to check the forums for a few days. THIS IS AWESOME.

Playback is kind of brilliant, esp. on my MBP dealing with 3:1 compression off the EPIC. and the *new* display for mouseover sampling on the histogram & waveform.... thats gonna be useful. like realllly useful. You guys rock. IM EXCITED
 
I have to say I was surprised at just how cool Red Cine X Pro is...
When we started recording the RC (Red Center) podcast this week - you can hear it in my voice - I was like - ok on paper it looks alright - AND then I seriously reviewed it - and I was so happy it is not funny - You guys buried the lead - this thing has some MAJOR gems buried that Red did not even mention.
I love RCX Pro - LOVE it... just listen to the end of the podcast when I have actually used it - and start raving about it...

Redcine Pro X not booting. Anyone experiencing the same problem?
